Summary: In the new era of big data, the importance of real-time contextual anomaly detection is rapidly increasing. Many anomaly detection algorithms have weaknesses in dealing with streaming time-series data containing different patterns. This paper proposes an online contextual anomaly detection method that shows a clear advantage in analyzing streaming data with varying patterns.

Summary: Ultra high performance concrete (UHPC) can be prepared using carbon fiber (CF) as reinforcement to avoid steel fiber corrosion. The properties of CF/matrix interface in UHPC are important for composite performance, but the characteristics of the interface with different CF surface treatments are not clear yet. This study quantified the micromechanical properties of CF/matrix interface in UHPC using nano-scratch technique. The fracture toughness of CF/matrix interface was higher for CFs modified with electrochemical oxidation and the interfacial thickness decreased. Additionally, the addition of silica fume increased the fracture toughness and decreased the interfacial thickness.

Summary: Remote usability testing is performed by evaluators who are in different physical locations from the participants and possibly operating at different times. Recent web-based tools have been developed to support remote tests, but the benefits and drawbacks of using these tools have not been thoroughly studied. This article presents an experimental study comparing real-time laboratory tests with asynchronous remote tests using a web-based tool, and investigates the differences in metrics results and participant experiences between the two types of tests. The findings provide insights for the design of future tools, including the impact of web technology on task execution times and participant satisfaction, as well as the need to manage slow internet connections in asynchronous remote testing to avoid negative emotions.

Summary: A chemical vapor deposition approach utilizing the surfactant effects of organic molecules is used to grow atomically thin layers of MoS2 on nanopatterned substrates, adapting to the local substrate curvature through shear and slip mechanisms. This study reveals the role of perylene-based molecules in promoting layer adhesion to the substrate.

Summary: Accurate prediction of the shear strength of old and new concrete interfaces is crucial for the design and assessment of precast and retrofitted concrete structures. This study developed an explainable machine learning model for predicting interface shear strength, with the XGBoost model showing the best performance among the ML-models and outperforming empirical models. Key factors affecting predictions include reinforcement ratio, surface type, interface section width, and concrete strength.
