Summary: This study investigates the practice patterns for adjusting targeted therapy after liver transplantation (LT) in patients with portopulmonary hypertension (POPH). The results reveal heterogeneity in the practice patterns, with some physicians adjusting therapy immediately after LT and others favoring serial integrated cardiopulmonary testing to guide therapy adjustments. The study highlights the need for further research to optimize treatment strategies for POPH patients.

Summary: This study analyzed the management and survival of patients with malignant peritoneal mesothelioma (MPM) and found that cytoreductive surgery (CRS) with hyperthermic intraperitoneal chemotherapy (HIPEC) is an effective therapy. Over time, there has been an increase in the proportion of patients undergoing CRS-HIPEC and a decrease in the proportion of patients receiving no treatment, accompanied by an improvement in overall survival.

Summary: The study found barriers and facilitators to the utilization of clinical practice guidelines by healthcare providers involved in the assessment and management of musculoskeletal disorders. The main barriers included disagreement between recommendations and patient expectations, guidelines not being specific to individual patients, lack of familiarity with certain terms or models, time-consuming processes, and variations in guideline methods. The main facilitators included clinicians' interest in evidence-based practice, perception that guidelines improve triage, diagnosis, and management, time efficiency, and standardized language.

Summary: The study focuses on using business process modeling technology to model medical treatment processes and proposes an integrated framework based on treatment patterns. The efficiency of modeling medical treatment processes is enhanced by summarizing and applying treatment patterns. Empirical analysis shows that executable medical treatment processes of CPGs provide guidance for physicians, helping them in their daily work.

Summary: Long-term melanoma survivors are more likely to meet American Cancer Society physical activity guidelines than population controls, but almost 50% do not meet the recommendations. This finding is concerning as physical activity is known to improve quality of life and survival among cancer survivors. There are still opportunities to promote physical activity among melanoma survivors.

Summary: The purpose of this study was to compare activities at the time of a sunburn between rural and urban residents in the United States. The study found that rural residents were more likely to experience sunburn while working or working outside the house, while urban residents were more likely to experience sunburn while exercising or sunbathing. These findings suggest that preventing incidental sun exposures during outdoor-focused rural occupations and work outside the house may be crucial in rural populations, while outdoor exercise and sunbathing may be more important in urban populations.

Summary: This study aims to describe the fear of cancer recurrence among gynecologic cancer survivors and identify psychosocial factors that predict elevated fear. The findings reveal that fear of recurrence is prevalent among gynecologic cancer survivors. Higher levels of distress, hopelessness, anxiety, and surprisingly, post-traumatic growth are associated with greater fear. These results highlight the importance of addressing the psychosocial well-being of cancer survivors.

Summary: Although well-known as antiviral factors, the APOBEC3 family of single-stranded DNA cytosine deaminases are also prominent sources of mutation in cancer, with its signature single-base substitutions evident in over 70% of human malignancies. Recent studies have shown that APOBEC3A and APOBEC3B can promote tumor formation in vivo. This research investigates the molecular mechanism of APOBEC3A-driven tumor development and demonstrates that APOBEC3A is a master driver that fuels tumor formation through a DNA deamination-dependent mechanism.
