Summary: We examined the incidence of paediatric asthma hospitalisations in Finland and Sweden from 2015 to 2020. The results showed a significant decrease in hospitalisations in both countries, with Finland experiencing a 36.7% decrease and Sweden a 39.9% decrease from 2015 to 2019. Despite differences in COVID-19-related restrictions, asthma hospitalisations decreased by over 40% in 2020, indicating the need for further research.

Summary: This study analyzes the short-term associations between PM10 and the number of patients with acute respiratory problems in the Swedish city of Visby. The results show that increasing concentrations of PM10 are associated with an increase in respiratory visits, particularly among children with asthma, during the summer/autumn period. However, no significant effects were observed during the winter/spring period, except for the diagnosis group 'upper airways' in adults.

Summary: Lipid levels in blood have decreased significantly in the general population due to the use of statins. This trend was observed in primary health care patients who were not using statins from 2001 to 2018, with substantial decreases in total cholesterol and low-density lipoprotein cholesterol levels, especially in the elderly population.

Summary: This study assessed ethnic differences in disease control, exacerbations, biological phenotype, and treatment in severe asthma patients in the United Kingdom. The results showed that patients from underrepresented ethnic groups had higher levels of uncontrolled disease, were more likely to attend the emergency department, and exhibited differences in biomarker levels and medication use.

Summary: This study used audio-recorded patient-primary care provider encounters to evaluate the level of shared decision-making perceived by patients and predict their adherence to inhaled corticosteroids. The accuracy of automated speech-to-text transcription was high, and machine learning algorithms showed good predictive performance for both shared decision-making and medication adherence.

Summary: This study investigated the incidence and trends in operative treatment of hamstring injuries in Sweden between 2001 and 2020. The results showed an increase in the incidence of hamstring injuries from 2.2 to 7.3 per 100,000 person-years, and a rising trend in surgical treatment from 3.0% to 14.2%. Units with more experience in surgical treatment tended to operate on patients more often. In conclusion, there was an increasing proportion of operatively treated hamstring injuries during the study period.
