Summary: The study found a significant association between CYP2C19 genotypes and PZQ concentrations, with higher levels in CYP2C19 (*2, *3) carriers compared to ultra-rapid metabolizers (CYP2C19 *17 carriers). The metabolic ratio was also significantly different between CYP2C19 *17 carriers and CYP2C19 (*2, *3) carriers. No significant impact of CYP3A4, CYP3A5, CYP2C19, and CYP2C9 genotypes on treatment efficacy or adverse events was observed.

Summary: This study aimed to investigate the treatment outcomes of vancomycin in children with Gram-positive bacterial sepsis using a daily dosage of 40-60 mg/kg and corresponding trough concentrations. The results showed that this dosage was effective without vancomycin-related nephrotoxicity adverse effects, and a trough concentration >15 mg/L was not an essential target for treatment in these patients.

Summary: The plasma pharmacokinetics of acetaminophen following oral administration of a single dose of 20 or 40 mg/kg to neonatal foals were determined. The results showed that the plasma disposition of acetaminophen in neonatal foals is similar to adult horses. However, further research is needed to determine the safety and optimal dosage regimen for treating pain and fever in neonatal foals in this age group.

Summary: Epidemiological evidence suggests that infection with Onchocerca volvulus may trigger epilepsy, including nodding and Nakalanga syndromes. The strength of the evidence supporting a causal relationship is significant, especially in areas with a high burden of epilepsy. However, further research is needed to elucidate the mechanisms by which the parasite induces seizures and to determine how onchocerciasis control measures could potentially prevent onchocerciasis-associated epilepsy.
