Summary: This study aims to examine the association between cardiorespiratory fitness (CRF) and the risk of breast cancer in postmenopausal women. The findings suggest that higher CRF may be a protective factor against breast cancer, but only for women with elevated body fat.

Summary: Nurses' sleep quality and symptoms of depression, anxiety and stress showed positive variations during the COVID-19 outbreak, with the fear of infecting others or being infected being directly related factors. While the outbreak had immediate impacts on nurses' mental health, a psychological adaptation phenomenon was also observed.

Summary: This study aimed to examine the associations of MetS with all-cause and cause-specific mortality. Data from the NHANES III (1988-1994) and continuous NHANES (1999-2014) in the United States were used, including 36,414 adults. The study found that individuals with MetS had a significantly higher risk of all-cause, heart disease, and diabetes mortality, but no significant association was found for cancer mortality.

Summary: There is an association between maternal age at first childbirth and death from cardiovascular disease and all-cause mortality in Korean women. Mothers who had given birth at an early or late age were at greater risk of CVD and all-cause mortality than mothers who had given birth in their mid-20s.

Summary: The study aimed to assess the association between body fatness and weight changes and overall mortality and BC-specific mortality among BC survivors. The results showed that excess body fatness is linked to poorer survival in women with BC, and substantial weight changes postdiagnosis may contribute to poorer survival.

Summary: This study investigated the association between antenatal depression and adverse perinatal outcomes in a Chinese population. The results showed that pregnant women with antenatal depressive symptoms were more likely to have preterm delivery and cesarean section. Therefore, screening and treatment for antenatal depression are necessary during prenatal care.

Summary: This study found significant bidirectional associations between decreased handgrip strength (HGS) and activities of daily living (ADL) disability. Low HGS was associated with subsequent ADL disability, and baseline ADL disability was associated with an increased risk of developing low HGS. Interventions should be developed to prevent the development or progression of both low HGS and ADL disability.

Summary: The study found that poor mental health status in participants of the UK Biobank was associated with a higher risk of cardiovascular disease. Each of the mental factors studied individually showed a positive association with CVD risk, and the composite score of these factors was positively correlated with CVD, CHD, and stroke risk in a dose-response manner.

Summary: This study investigated the association between elevated remnant cholesterol (RC) levels and the risk of heart failure (HF) in the general population. The findings showed that higher RC levels were significantly associated with a higher risk of HF, suggesting that elevated RC levels might be a potential risk factor for HF. Therefore, the management of blood cholesterol should focus on RC levels in addition to traditional lipid parameters.

Summary: Physical activity is associated with better outcomes following breast cancer diagnosis. A study found that higher postdiagnosis activity levels were inversely associated with breast cancer-specific mortality and all-cause mortality. Specifically, walking and strength training were associated with lower risk of all-cause mortality. These findings further support the importance of increasing physical activity after a breast cancer diagnosis.

Summary: Glaucoma is a leading cause of irreversible blindness worldwide, but its etiology is poorly understood. This study aimed to identify plasma metabolites associated with the risk of primary open-angle glaucoma (POAG) using case-control studies and cross-sectional studies. The results showed that higher levels of diglycerides and triglycerides were adversely associated with glaucoma, indicating their important role in glaucoma pathogenesis.

Summary: This study found negative associations between exposure to benzene and formaldehyde and anti-Mullerian hormone (AMH) levels. Using data from 1989 to 1996-1999, various environmental factors were examined, including greenness, particulate matter, noise, outdoor light at night, ultraviolet radiation, and hazardous air pollutants. Single-exposure models showed that benzene and formaldehyde were consistently associated with lower AMH levels. Principal component analysis identified a pattern of high exposure to air pollutants and light at night, which was associated with lower AMH levels. Hierarchical Bayesian kernel machine regression suggested an inverse joint association between benzene, formaldehyde, greenness, and AMH levels. These associations were mainly observed among women above the age of 40.

Summary: This study investigated the long-term overall survival and causes of death among men and women diagnosed with the most commonly occurring cancers. The results showed that, except for lung cancer, patients with common cancers were more likely to die from causes other than primary cancers. Patients who survived longer than 10 years after diagnosis were unlikely to die from that disease.
