Summary: The charcoal restriction program in New Taipei City did not show a significant reduction in charcoal-burning or overall suicide rates. Future suicide prevention strategies should focus on optimizing program sustainability, ensuring comprehensive means restriction, and monitoring long-term intervention effectiveness.

Summary: The study indicates that disease tends to aggregate at short distances, with diseased trees clustering within 3 to 9 meters. Progression of the disease over time is slow, possibly due to rigorous phytosanitation measures and unfavorable microclimatic conditions. Difficulty in pathogen establishment in plots leads to infection dynamics being driven by proximity to already infected cacao plantations.

Summary: Colombia has seen an increasing trend in HIV/AIDS incidence and a stable trend in AIDS mortality rate. The 0-14 age group showed a decrease in both HIV/AIDS incidence and AIDS mortality, while those aged 65 and above showed an upward trend in HIV/AIDS incidence. High-high clusters of HIV/AIDS incidence and AIDS mortality were found in the Andean and Caribbean regions, possibly due to sexual tourism.

Summary: Suicide by charcoal burning is a serious method that has become increasingly common in Hong Kong and is spreading to other countries. Media plays an important role in triggering and spreading information about this suicide method. Current prevention strategies focus on restricting access to charcoal and raising public awareness, but there is limited information on their long-term effectiveness and sustainability.

Summary: This study aimed to identify high-risk suicide-methods clusters based on location of residence and suicide incidence, and to compare the characteristics of cases and spatial units inside and outside clusters. The findings revealed suicide clusters involving jumping and charcoal burning methods, with different housing distribution compared to outside clusters. Socially disadvantaged units were more prevalent within most of the overall suicide and suicide by jumping clusters. The study highlights the need for consistent support from stakeholders within suicide clusters to ensure effective suicide prevention programs.

Summary: Studying the spatial and temporal patterns of IAV is crucial for controlling the disease and implementing vaccination programs effectively. However, these patterns and genetic lineage circulation of IAV in tropical regions remain unclear. To gain insight into this, the study investigated the patterns and outbreaks of IAV in six different regions of Ecuador from 2011 to 2021. The findings suggest that Ecuador's IAV epidemiology resembles that of temperate Northern Hemisphere countries, and the southern provinces may act as a source of IAV with a larger effective population size.

Summary: This study investigates the socio-economic factors related to suicide rates in China from 1990 to 2015 and examines how these factors have changed over time. The findings show that the protective effects of increasing GDP per capita and urbanization on suicide rates were strong in 1990 but negligible by 2015. The association between employment and suicide rates has shifted from positive to negative, while migration remains a constant risk factor. This study highlights the dynamic effects of economic and social factors on suicide rates and emphasizes the need for a holistic approach to improve overall population well-being in China.

Summary: Since the outbreak of COVID-19 in 2019, countries have responded diversely to the pandemic. Collecting traffic data to assess the impact of non-pharmaceutical interventions is crucial, and the use of spatiotemporal analysis through remote-sensing images has proven to be beneficial. The study presented in this paper utilizes high temporal resolution Planet multispectral images to detect traffic density in multiple cities, providing insights into mobility pattern changes in response to COVID-19.

Summary: Ambient noise characteristics were studied for newly constructed seismic stations in the Sikkim Himalaya region. The study found that vertical component noise levels were within global limits, but horizontal components slightly exceeded the limits due to the tilt effect. The noise patterns were affected by installation techniques, tectonic settings, anthropogenic activities, and time of day.

Summary: We investigated the impact of the COVID-19 pandemic on call volumes and call characteristics using data from a national crisis helpline. The study found that call volumes significantly increased during the early period of the pandemic, with higher-than-expected calls from non-suicidal and male callers. Calls related to COVID-19 were more likely to be from male and first-time callers, last less than 5 minutes, and were more focused on information-seeking.

Summary: This study aimed to explore the prevalence of somatic symptom disorder (SSD) in Asia, particularly in Taiwan, and the relationship between SSD and comorbid depression and anxiety. The results showed that 33.58% of SSD patients had comorbid depression or anxiety. Furthermore, anxiety was significantly associated with outpatient/emergency department attendance, while depression was not. The nationwide prevalence of SSD in Taiwan was consistent with the description in the DSM-5.

Summary: Among persons with HIV, higher alcohol use and having hepatitis C virus are associated with increased morbidity and mortality. This study investigated the interaction between alcohol use and hepatitis C virus on mortality in HIV-positive individuals. The results showed a J-shaped pattern of mortality among HIV-positive individuals without hepatitis C virus, with both non-drinkers and heavy drinkers having higher mortality compared to moderate alcohol drinkers. However, among those with hepatitis C virus, only heavy drinkers had higher mortality rates.

Summary: This study examines the associations between the use of antidepressants during pregnancy and outcomes using multiple methods to strengthen causal inference. The results show that women who initiate or continue antidepressants during pregnancy are more likely to have contact with healthcare services and continue antidepressant use after pregnancy. However, there is little evidence for substantial associations between antidepressant use and autism, attention deficit hyperactivity disorder, or intellectual disability in children.
