Summary: In this study, it was found that increased expression of SP and CGRP in biopsy samples of lateral epicondylitis patients was associated with tendon degeneration severity. The levels of SP and CGRP expression were significantly correlated with Movin score, with higher levels associated with more severe degeneration. Additionally, elevated SP or CGRP expression levels were also linked with higher preoperative VAS scores.

Summary: Cizolirtine, a substance used for pain and urinary incontinence, showed an increased incidence of tumors in mice and rats. In mice, it was associated with an increase in skin fibrosarcomas and sarcomas, while in rats, it was associated with liver adenomas and carcinomas, possibly due to increased liver metabolism and related changes. However, the relevance of these findings to humans remains uncertain.

Summary: Cizolirtine treatment in rats showed adverse effects such as decreased bodyweight gain and increased plasma concentrations. High doses led to liver and ovarian issues in some animals. The dosages of 20 and 60 mg/kg/day were considered as the No-Observed-Adverse-Effect Levels for males and females respectively.

Summary: Bisphosphonate-related osteonecrosis of the jaw (BRONJ) is a serious side effect of systematic administration of bisphosphonates (BPs). Sensory denervation facilitates the occurrence of BRONJ, but therapeutic use of CGRP can effectively prevent the progression of BRONJ.

Summary: Primary Sjogren's Syndrome (pSS) is an autoimmune disease that affects the lacrimal and salivary glands, resulting in reduced secretion and symptoms like dry mouth and dry eyes. This study found decreased levels of substance P (SP) and increased levels of NK1R in the minor salivary glands of pSS patients, suggesting their involvement in the impaired salivary secretion. The increase in apoptosis in pSS patients was also related to JNK phosphorylation.

Summary: The calcitonin gene-related peptide (CGRP) is a neuropeptide with complex systemic impact beyond nociception. It plays a crucial role in vasodilation, inflammation, intestinal motility, and apoptosis. CGRP has contradictory effects, acting as a potent vasodilator in the cardiovascular system but not inducing arterial hypertension. It also exhibits both anti-inflammatory and pro-inflammatory effects as an immunomodulator.

Summary: Calcitonin gene-related peptide (CGRP) is a 37-amino acid peptide initially known for its vasodilatory and nociceptive effects. Recent research has revealed its close association with bone metabolism and shown CGRP to be a bridge between the nervous system and the skeletal muscle system. CGRP can promote osteogenesis, inhibit bone resorption, stimulate vascular growth, and regulate the immune microenvironment. Various signaling pathways, including the G protein-coupled pathway, MAPK, Hippo, and NF-κB, play a role in CGRP's effects on cell proliferation and differentiation. This review provides a comprehensive overview of the bone repair effects of CGRP and discusses therapeutic approaches such as drug injection, gene editing, and novel bone repair materials.

Summary: Abdominal pain is common in gastrointestinal disorders, and gut microbiota and sex both play a role in determining visceral sensitivity. Germ-free mice displayed greater pain responses to colorectal distension, and the production of CGRP was higher in germ-free mice, especially in females.

Summary: Alpha CGRP and substance P play important roles in bone homeostasis, and their ratio is crucial for driving aging and healing scenarios. By increasing the alpha CGRP/SP ratio, better callus formation and faster callus remodeling can be achieved during fracture healing.

Summary: This study found that the expression of CGRP in the femur of osteoporotic patients was downregulated, while the expression of CGRP and serotonin in the spinal cord and brainstem was increased. These results suggest that the activation of osteoclasts may trigger the release of CGRP from sensory nerve fibers and promote serotonin release in the spinal cord and brainstem, contributing to bone loss in postmenopausal osteoporosis.

Summary: The study aimed to evaluate the effect of three different interventions on treatment outcomes and determine how the frequency of oral parafunction influences the effectiveness of these interventions. Results showed that physical therapy was more effective in reducing characteristic pain intensity compared to stabilization splint and control therapy. Additionally, participants with high-frequency parafunction experienced greater levels of anxiety but showed improvement regardless of the therapy applied.

Summary: The study found that post-discharge complications in dental treatment under general anesthesia in a day-care setting are common, with symptoms such as drowsiness and pain being most frequent. Most complications can be managed by parents or caregivers at home with conservative measures, with only a small number requiring phone consultation or readmission.

Summary: This study aimed to assess the knowledge and clinical experience of oral potentially malignant disorders (OPMDs) in undergraduate dental students in six European countries, as well as their attitudes and preferences towards future education on the topic. The results showed significant differences in clinical experience and knowledge among the students, with more exposure to OPMDs leading to higher levels of self-rated competence. Most students expressed interest in future education, preferably through short educational videos.
