Summary: This article proposes a fault diagnosis method for an angle grinder based on an adaptive parameters and chaos theory of the dual-strategy differential evolution algorithm (ACD-DE) and SVM model hybrid algorithm. The effectiveness and robustness of the algorithm are proven by solving eight test functions, and experiments show that the hybrid algorithm has high diagnosis accuracy and robustness.

Summary: Anemia remains a major public health problem, especially in low- and middle-income countries. The World Health Organization recommends several interventions to prevent and manage anemia in vulnerable population groups. These interventions include iron supplementation, micronutrient powders, fortification of flour, and non-nutrition-related interventions such as malaria treatment and deworming. Promising interventions for anemia prevention include vitamin A supplementation, multiple micronutrient supplementation, lipid-based supplements, and fortification of salt. Future research is needed to address efficacy and safety of supplementation formulations and investigate the effectiveness of integrating control programs for various diseases.

Summary: Reports on pediatric injury patterns during the COVID-19 pandemic vary and lack regional distinctions. This study found significant variations in injury types, intent, and mechanisms across pediatric trauma centers in the United States, suggesting a possible correlation with the socio-political climate and pandemic policies.

Summary: This review focuses on the diagnosis, screening, and management of Acetaminophen (APAP)-induced liver injury (AILI), which is a significant cause of drug-induced liver injury and acute liver failure. It summarizes recent research progress, highlights current issues, and provides recommendations for future research.

Summary: This retrospective cohort study found that among patients with type 2 diabetes in Hong Kong, the use of sodium-glucose cotransporter 2 inhibitors (SGLT2Is) was associated with a reduced risk of incident obstructive airway disease (OAD) and a lower rate of exacerbations compared with the use of dipeptidyl peptidase-4 inhibitors (DPP4Is) in clinical practice.

Summary: The study found that general contractors with exemplary safety programs have a positive impact on the safety climate and safety behaviors of workers. Smaller subcontractors typically have fewer safety elements, so many small subcontractors need to adopt more safety policies and practices to work for general contractors.

Summary: This study provides a systematic overview of the current evidence on clinical studies and experimental models reporting on intracranial facial nerve (FN) injury, highlighting the specific vulnerability of the intracranial FN during CPA tumor surgery. Experimental studies show that rats and rabbits offer feasible models for manipulating the FN in the CPA.

Summary: From 2008 to 2018, a total of 2102 gymnasts reported 180 injuries, with an injury incidence of 85.6 per 1000 gymnasts. The most common injury site was the ankle, muscle strain/rupture/tear was the most common type of injury, and most injuries were caused by contact with the surface, with the vault being the event where most injuries occurred. Injury incidence was higher during competition compared to training, and greater at Olympic Trials than at National Qualifier meets.

Summary: Urologic trauma can lead to urethral injury, and the management recommendations vary depending on the type of injury. The retrograde urethrogram is the preferred initial diagnostic method for suspected urethral injury. Iatrogenic urethral injury caused by traumatic catheterization is best managed by an experienced clinician attempting catheterization or using a suprapubic catheter for proper drainage. Penetrating trauma, such as gunshot wounds, may result in anterior and/or posterior urethral injury, requiring early operative repair. Blunt trauma, such as straddle injuries or pelvic fractures, can be treated with either early endoscopic realignment or delayed urethroplasty after suprapubic cystostomy. Regardless of the type of injury and treatment chosen, regular follow-up with a urologist is crucial for accurate assessment of outcomes and management of complications.

Summary: Despite the lack of focus on injury and violence in US schools of public health and departments of epidemiology, recent years have seen a growing interest in incorporating anti-oppression principles into pedagogy. This commentary provides a case study of a graduate-level course at the University of Washington School of Public Health, illustrating how anti-oppression can be integrated into course development and delivery. The authors offer reflections and lessons learned in hopes of encouraging others in the field to adopt an anti-oppression framework in developing classes and programs related to injury and violence.

Summary: Peripheral facial nerve injury causes changes in neuroactive substances that affect nerve cell damage, survival, growth, and regeneration. This review explores the biomolecules involved in peripheral facial nerve damage and their impact on the central nervous system (CNS), aiming to identify potential strategies for treating facial nerve injury and functional recovery. By identifying the biomolecules in the CNS that change after peripheral nerve damage, this review could contribute to the development of effective treatment strategies for peripheral facial palsy.

Summary: This study retrospectively reviewed head trauma patients undergoing simultaneous head and facial computed tomography to identify clinical indicators and develop a risk-prediction model for facial fractures detection. The model, based on 10 predictors, showed good discrimination, calibration, and precision, and could potentially reduce unnecessary facial CT scans by 77.1%.
