Summary: This study aimed to explore the relationship between workplace violence (WPV) and professional identity among Chinese psychiatric nurses, and the mediating effects of psychological capital (PsyCap) in this relationship. The study included 952 psychiatric nurses from seven public tertiary psychiatric hospitals in Liaoning Province, China. The findings showed a negative association between WPV and professional identity, and PsyCap partially mediated this relationship, particularly through the dimensions of hope and resilience. Therefore, hospital administrators should take measures to prevent and reduce WPV, and provide nurses with skills training programs to enhance PsyCap.

Summary: Despite the high burden of mental disorders among adolescents, access to mental health services remains insufficient in low- and middle-income countries. An economic modelling study showed that interventions to prevent or treat anxiety, depression, bipolar disorder, and suicide among adolescents can have a high return on investment and low cost per disability adjusted life year (DALY) averted. This highlights the importance and value of addressing mental disorders among adolescents worldwide.
