Summary: After oral mucosal injury, the healing response involves specific steps that require different cell populations, with fibroblasts playing a crucial role in ECM production. The study highlights the role of TGF-beta 1 in promoting the differentiation of gingival fibroblasts into myofibroblasts, as evidenced by changes in specific markers.

Summary: In this study, the FGFRs inhibitor FIIN-2 was found to inhibit the proliferation, colony formation, and migration of platinum-resistant LUAD cells while inducing mitochondria-mediated apoptosis. Furthermore, FIIN-2 was shown to enhance autophagy flux in these cells, suggesting its potential as a treatment strategy for LUAD, especially in combination with autophagy inhibitors.

Summary: In this study, FGF9 was found to play a crucial role in the transdifferentiation of lung adenocarcinoma to small cell lung cancer. The upregulation of FGF9 was confirmed to induce neuroendocrine differentiation in established human lung adenocarcinoma cells, providing direct evidence for FGF9-mediated SCLC transdifferentiation and proposing the FGF9-FGFR axis as a therapeutic target for transdifferentiated SCLC.

Summary: This study analyzed the dysregulation of CDH family members in lung adenocarcinoma (LUAD) and found that the expression levels of CDH17, CDH19, and CDH24 were associated with LUAD prognosis. Additionally, CDH members may be involved in several tumor-related pathways.

Summary: This study provides new evidence that asthma could be a risk factor for choroidal neovascularization (CNV) development through the TGF-beta 1/Smad signaling pathway. Using a TGF-beta inhibitor in asthmatic mouse models can be an effective adjunctive therapeutic strategy for preventing CNV formation.

Summary: Carcinogenic nicotine-derived nitrosamine ketone (NNK) is the most potent factor in the development of lung adenocarcinoma (LUAD). This study revealed that the overexpression of fatty acid translocase CD36 is correlated with Src kinase activation, smoking status, metastasis, and worse overall survival in LUAD patients. The interaction between NNK, alpha 7 nicotinic acetylcholine receptor (alpha 7nAChR), and CD36 plays a crucial role in activating Src and promoting LUAD tumor formation, which can be inhibited by CD36 knockdown or CD36 irreversible inhibitor SSO.

Summary: Epithelial-to-mesenchymal transition (EMT) is a biological process that promotes cancer cell dissemination and drug resistance. This study revealed that overexpression of MIR31HG in pancreatic ductal adenocarcinoma (PDAC) patients is associated with poorer disease-free survival, as well as upregulation of genes related to TGF beta signaling and EMT. In vitro experiments further demonstrated that TGF beta induces MIR31HG expression and knockdown of MIR31HG reverses TGF beta-induced EMT phenotypes and cancer cell migration.
