Summary: The study evaluated the impact of co-morbidities on financial hardship in adult cancer survivors and found that financial worry was more pronounced among survivors from low-income families, while survivors of working age were more likely to face out-of-pocket burden. Health insurance and a usual source of care did not alleviate the impact of co-morbidities on financial hardship.

Summary: Mechanistic studies on CO2 and CO electroreduction (CO2R and COR) have mainly focused on detecting reaction intermediates and elucidating the first C-C coupling step. However, the structural sensitivity of CO2 or CO adsorption, which directly impacts their activities and selectivities, has been largely overlooked. Through density functional theory calculations and microkinetic considerations, this study reveals that CO2 adsorption on copper (Cu) is significantly enhanced by sites with low coordination numbers (cn), while CO adsorption strength remains constant across different cn surfaces. Experimental results also confirm this prediction, highlighting the importance of combining suitable feedstocks and Cu sites to optimize the production of high-value chemicals.

Summary: This study compared changes in clinical pain and quantitative pain sensitivity in women with early-stage breast cancer who did or did not receive AI therapy. The study found that AI therapy was associated with an increase in pain in nonsurgical body sites and an increase in post-treatment pain sensitivity. This suggests that central sensitization may be a contributing mechanism of aromatase inhibitor-associated musculoskeletal syndrome, which warrants further investigation.

Summary: This study demonstrates that a culturally tailored virtual program can improve the survivorship experience of Asian American women breast cancer survivors. The intervention group showed significant reductions in their needs and improvements in their symptoms and quality of life compared to the control group.

Summary: This paper addresses the long-term planning and optimization problem of battery-electric bus charging station locations and charging duration, taking into account the stochasticity of ridership and battery performance. The study develops a linear deterministic optimization model and a two-stage stochastic programming approach to optimize passenger waiting time and costs. Results indicate that using the stochastic model can decrease travel time while increasing overall costs.

Summary: This study successfully improved the activity of CO oxidation by designing Pt single atom catalysts supported on Gd-doped ceria. The results showed that a new Pt single atom site formed under CO pretreatment at elevated temperatures can significantly reduce the energy barrier of CO oxidation. The reactivity and reaction mechanism of the catalyst can be tuned by changing the local electronic and atomic structure of the Pt single atom through Gd doping.

Summary: The study found that pregnant women with HIV receiving ART are more likely to have >= 2 chronic comorbid conditions compared to those without HIV, but are slightly less likely to experience obstetrical complications. Late entry to prenatal care and starting ART in an earlier era are associated with lower likelihood of chronic comorbidities and obstetrical complications, while detectable viral load at delivery is associated with higher likelihood of obstetric complications.

Summary: The study aimed to explore how rural women cancer survivors experience and manage financial toxicity. Qualitative interviews were conducted with 36 socioeconomically diverse rural women cancer survivors. Participants were categorized into three groups based on financial and job security and insurance type, and their strategies for managing financial toxicity were described. The findings suggest that financial toxicity related to cancer treatment is experienced differently by rural women cancer survivors, and therefore financial assistance and navigation programs should be tailored to support rural patients experiencing different forms of financial toxicity.

Summary: Understanding the relationship between chronic pain and suicidal behavior is important for suicide prevention. The study found that the association between chronic pain and suicidal behavior may be attributed to unmeasured confounding or pain comorbidity. However, the association was not statistically significant within monozygotic twin pairs, suggesting the presence of familial confounding.

Summary: The aim of this study was to determine the most efficient and effective analgesic protocol for pain management and functional recovery after iliac bone grafting in cleft alveolus patients. A systematic review was conducted to analyze different pain management techniques, however, further randomized controlled studies are needed due to the lack of data and inconsistency in pain assessment scales.

Summary: The prevalence and co-existence of cardiometabolic risk factors in Gambian women are concerning, with obesity being a key factor. In addition to controlling obesity, multifaceted strategies are needed to address the different risk factors separately in order to reduce the prevalence or minimize the risk of cardiovascular diseases.

Summary: This study found that increasing number of pain sites is associated with greater healthcare use and costs. High levels of health anxiety slightly increase the number of general healthcare contacts but do not affect the relationship between number of pain sites and healthcare use or cost outcomes.

Summary: Endometriosis is a chronic gynecological condition that affects women, causing pelvic pain, infertility, and increased risk for ovarian cancer. Diabetes mellitus is a metabolic disease with rising incidence worldwide. This pilot study evaluated whether a subset of women with endometriosis manifests diabetes co-morbidity and if so, whether diabetes promotes endometriosis status. The findings demonstrate diabetes in a subset of women with endometriosis, which was associated with significant changes in lesion stromal and epithelial nuclear steroid hormone receptor levels, suggestive of disease progression.

Summary: Impregnation of highly porous carbon black and micro/mesoporous activated carbon with cobalt and nickel nitrates followed by heat treatment at 850 degrees C in nitrogen revealed significant differences in catalyst performance depending on the type of carbon used. The catalytic activity was found to be strongly influenced by surface chemistry, porosity, and the formation of Co3O4. Co3O4 formation on highly conductive carbon black resulted in excellent performance, while nickel metal nanoparticles promoted ORR when Co3O4 was not formed in sufficient quantity. The presence of small pores significantly enhanced ORR efficiency by promoting oxygen adsorption and electron transfer.
