To investigate the concentrations of rare earth elements in cereals and assess human health risk through cereal consumption, a total of 327 cereal samples were collected from rare earth mining area and control area in Shandong, China. The contents of 14 rare earth elements were determined by Inductively Coupled Plasma-Mass Spectrometry (ICP-MS). The medians of total rare earth elements in cereals from mining and control areas were 74.22 mu g/kg and 47.83 mu g/kg, respectively, and the difference was statistically significant (P < 0.05). The wheat had the highest rare earth elements concentrations (109.39 mu g/kg and 77.96 mu g/kg for mining and control areas, respectively) and maize had the lowest rare earth elements concentrations (42.88 mu g/kg and 30.25 mu g/kg for mining and control areas, respectively). The rare earth elements distribution patterns for both areas were characterized by enrichment of light rare earth elements. The health risk assessment demonstrated that the estimated daily intakes of rare earth elements through cereal consumption were considerably lower than the acceptable daily intake (70 mu g/kg bw). The damage to adults can be neglected, but more attention should be paid to the effects of continuous exposure to rare earth elements on children.

Summary: This study aimed to explore the association between dietary BCAAs, blood lipid levels and risk of dyslipidemia. The results showed that dietary BCAAs were positively correlated with total cholesterol (TC) and low-density lipoprotein cholesterol (LDL-C), and the relationship between dietary BCAAs and the risk of hypercholesteremia and hyper-LDL-cholesterolemia were both nonlinear.

Summary: This study used nationally representative data to investigate the association between dietary fiber intake and serum uric acid levels and the risk of hyperuricemia among Chinese adults. The findings suggest that higher intake of total fiber and cereal fiber is associated with lower uric acid levels and a reduced risk of hyperuricemia.

Summary: Serum vitamin A level is positively correlated with blood lipid profiles, but this association is influenced by age. Vitamin A is a risk factor for dyslipidemia, such as hypercholesterolemia, hypertriglyceridemia, and mixed hyperlipidemia, but a protective factor for low high-density lipoprotein cholesterolemia.

The Effect of BMI on Blood Lipids and Dyslipidemia in Lactating Women

Lianlong Yu, Xiaohui Xu, Wei Yu, Liyong Chen, Shixiu Zhang, Yanmo Li, Meina Tian, Changqing Liu, Xiaoyan Luo, Yiya Liu

Summary: This study found that there is a positive correlation between BMI and dyslipidemia risk in lactating women. A higher BMI is associated with an increased risk of dyslipidemia. It is recommended that lactating women maintain a BMI below 24.85 kg/m(2) to prevent the occurrence of dyslipidemia.

Summary: This study investigated the nutrition status of dietary patterns and their association with the risk of poor glycemic control in Chinese diabetics. Data from the China Nutrition and Health Surveillance 2015-2017 survey was analyzed, including 2031 participants. The study found that two gender-specific dietary patterns with low intake of freshwater fish, poultry, and fruits were associated with an increased risk of poor glycemic control in diabetes.
