Summary: Zanthoxylum schinifolium is a common herbal medicine in Southwest China and is believed to have the effect of relieving migraine in Chinese folk medicine. This study investigated the chemical constituents of CO2 extracts of Z. schinifolium and its effects on migraine animals, showing that CO2 extracts have a definite therapeutic effect on migraine by affecting vasomotor factors and the inflammatory pathway, with linalool being the main effective substance against migraine. These findings provide a scientific basis for the development of effective and simple migraine therapy.

Summary: The volatile and non-volatile components of Z. myriacanthum branches and leaves were analyzed, identifying 78 volatile compounds and 66 non-volatile compounds. The leaves exhibited higher antioxidant activity due to the presence of more flavonoids and phenols compared to the branches. These findings provide insights into the chemical composition and antioxidant potential of Z. myriacanthum.

Summary: This study investigated the bioactive compounds isolated from the roots of Zanthoxylum nitidum and found that two compounds showed antibacterial activity against methicillin-resistant Staphylococcus aureus (MRSA). These compounds exhibited synergistic action with ampicillin, reducing the minimum inhibitory concentration (MIC) significantly, and had the ability to destroy bacterial biofilm when combined with ampicillin. In vitro, the combination treatment showed a strong scavenging effect on planktonic bacteria, and in vivo, it effectively cleared skin infection in a wound infection model. The investigation supported the traditional use of Z. nitidum in treating bacterial infections and may provide new natural products for the treatment of drug-resistant bacteria.
