Summary: SEM1 is highly expressed in gliomas and correlated with malignant features and poor prognosis. SEM1 plays a critical role in the proliferation, apoptosis, invasion, and migration of glioma cells through regulating the PI3K-Akt pathway. The SEM1 malignant regulatory network shows significant importance for the prognosis and treatment of gliomas.

Summary: This study investigates the role of Plastin-3 (PLS3) in the progression of papillary thyroid cancer and its underlying molecular mechanisms. The expression of PLS3 was significantly upregulated in tumor tissues compared to adjacent normal tissues in clinical samples of papillary thyroid cancer patients. High PLS3 expression was associated with advanced tumor stage and poor prognosis. In vitro and in vivo experiments showed that PLS3 promoted the proliferation, migration, and invasive behavior of papillary thyroid cancer cells through the activation of the Notch signaling pathway. The findings suggest that PLS3 could be a potential therapeutic target for the treatment of papillary thyroid cancer.

Summary: In this study, the researchers found that AGRN is significantly upregulated in LUAD and is associated with lymph node metastasis and poor prognosis. They also discovered that AGRN interacts with NOTCH1, leading to activation of the NOTCH pathway and promoting proliferation, migration, invasion, and tumorigenesis of LUAD cells. Furthermore, they demonstrated that anti-AGRN antibody treatment inhibits tumor cell proliferation and promotes apoptosis. These findings highlight the important role of AGRN in LUAD development and suggest the therapeutic potential of targeting AGRN with antibodies.

Summary: Thrombospondin (TSP1) is widely expressed in sheep ovaries and localized in the cytoplasm and nucleus of granulosa cells. Its expression is regulated by follicular development and follicle-stimulating hormone (FSH). FSH inhibits TSP1 expression and promotes sheep granulosa cell proliferation, while a TSP1 mimetic peptide offsets this proliferation. Inhibitors of the PI3K and ERK pathways promote TSP1 expression and inhibit sheep granulosa cell proliferation.

Summary: This study found that CHRDL2 is abnormally upregulated in gastric cancer and is associated with tumor progression and poor patient prognosis. CHRDL2 overexpression promotes proliferation and cell cycle transition of gastric cancer cells, and it plays a key role by activating the YAP/TAZ pathway.

Summary: Periodontitis is significantly associated with the risk of lung and digestive system cancers, as well as potentially various brain diseases. A study found that P. gingivalis LPS can promote glioma cell proliferation and migration, and increase levels of TNF-alpha, TGF-beta, MMP2, MMP9, and phosphorylation of Akt. Poor periodontal status was significantly higher in glioma patients compared to those with benign tumors, suggesting a possible association between periodontal infection and glioma progression.

Summary: This study found that LGR4 expression was significantly upregulated in multiple myeloma (MM) tissues and cells. Knockdown of LGR4 inhibited MM cell proliferation, promoted apoptosis and cell cycle arrest in G1, while overexpression showed the opposite effect. Mechanistic studies revealed that LGR4 could interact with TGF-beta 1 and activate the TGF-beta 1/Smad signaling pathway, promoting MM progression. LGR4 may be a potential new target for MM diagnosis and treatment.

Summary: In this study, we found that high expression of ARF6 is associated with poor prognosis and promotes the proliferation of hepatocellular carcinoma (HCC). ARF6 was upregulated in HCC tissues and correlated with poor tumor differentiation, incomplete tumor encapsulation, advanced tumor TNM stage, and poor prognosis. ARF6 activated the STAT3 signaling pathway to enhance HCC cell proliferation and tumor growth. These findings suggest that ARF6 may serve as a potential prognostic and therapeutic target for HCC patients.

Summary: Recent evidence suggests that m(6)A methylation plays a crucial role in skeletal muscle development through its regulation of TGF beta 1. Knockdown of TGF beta 1 inhibits myoblast proliferation and induces apoptosis. The presence of m(6)A in the 5 'UTR of TGF beta 1 promotes its decay and inhibits its expression, leading to a blockage in the TGF beta 1/SMAD2 signaling pathway. Targeted demethylation of TGF beta 1 m(6)A enhances the activity of the SMAD2 signaling pathway and promotes myoblast proliferation.
