Summary: The article discusses the challenges of communicating uncertainty for high-impact weather events and the emphasis on impact-based decision support within the National Weather Service. It highlights a collaborative project led by Stony Brook University aimed at training forecasters to effectively communicate risk and uncertainty, with a focus on connecting with audiences and matching messages to stakeholder interaction. Feedback from representatives in emergency management, TV media, transportation departments, and emergency services on the forecasters' presentations and communication skills is also discussed.

Summary: This study examines the effects of an intensive summer English training program on college students' self-efficacy beliefs and listening and speaking skills. The results show that students' self-efficacy beliefs improved after the program, but there were no statistically significant changes in their listening and speaking skills. Furthermore, the study found that pretest listening self-efficacy predicted posttest listening skills, but pretest speaking self-efficacy did not contribute to the prediction of posttest speaking skills.

Summary: This study analyzes the health inequality in rural China caused by indoor air pollution from traditional energy use, focusing on the effect of clean energy access on women's health outcome. The results show that clean energy applications can significantly improve the health of rural women, with substantial positive effects for specific groups such as middle-aged and older women, illiterate women, and those living in northeastern China. Overall, clean energy plays a crucial role in reducing gender disparities in health inequality.

Summary: The study found that general self-efficacy predicted habit automaticity but not motivational interference, while habit-specific self-efficacy and automaticity had a positive feedback mechanism. Self-efficacy and habit strength partially mediated the impact of motivational interference on habit building.

Summary: The efficacy of peening treatment can be improved by using high-amplitude short duration pulsed current, as demonstrated in the study of electropulsing-assisted ultrasonic nanocrystal surface modification (EP-UNSM). EP-UNSM process combines ultrasonic peening and electropulsing to enhance the plasticity of the target metal Ti64, resulting in deeper plastic deformation layer, higher surface hardness, and greater compressive residual stresses. The pulsed current effectively improves the peening efficacy, making EP-UNSM an effective method for strengthening Ti64.

Summary: National stroke registries can improve patient care quality and outcomes globally, but their utilization and implementation vary across countries. In the United States, stroke center certification requires meeting stroke-specific performance measures, and there are two available registries - the American Heart Association's voluntary Get With The Guidelines-Stroke database and the competitively funded Paul Coverdell National Acute Stroke Registry by the CDC. Compliance with stroke processes of care varies, and interorganizational quality improvement initiatives have shown some impact. However, the effectiveness of continuous quality improvement approaches, especially among competing institutions, and a uniform governance for successful interhospital collaboration in stroke care remains unclear.
