Summary: Individuals respond differently to daily sensory stimuli, which can affect their participation in activities. Sleep is a crucial nightly occupation that can impact children's overall health and development. Research suggests that sensory processing patterns, specifically sensitivities, may negatively impact children's sleep health. This study aimed to characterize sleep in children with and without sensory sensitivities and examine the relationship between sensory processing patterns and sleep. The results showed that children with sensory sensitivities had more sleep problems compared to those without, and addressing sleep concerns should be a part of routine care for children with sensory sensitivities. Further studies will focus on specific sleep intervention targets for children with different sensory processing patterns.

Summary: This study introduces a new RMC approach that allocates maintenance budgets based on component criticality and importance. A new diagnostic importance factor is introduced to prioritize components for maintenance activities and budget allocation. The proposed RMC framework improves reliability indexes, reduces maintenance cost, and enables efficient management of limited resources.

Summary: This article analyzes the methods and approaches to address the issue of inconsistency in system development stages. It proposes six directions for user involvement in the development process and discusses the problems associated with one of these directions. To solve these problems, a solution called the "sensemaking approach" is proposed, and a method for constructing the specification of the information model is developed to demonstrate the implementation of this approach.

Summary: This study explores sensory modulation differences in Developmental Coordination Disorder (DCD) and compares them with social emotional measures, behavior, and motor skills in Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD) and typically developing (TD) peers. The results show that 31% of the DCD group had sensory modulation difficulties, and sensory modulation was significantly associated with anxiety, empathic concern, repetitive behaviors, and motor skills in the DCD group.

Summary: This paper reviews the use of self and caregiver report tools to measure sensory features in ASD through a systematic review of psychometric evidence. The assessment tools showed substantial differences in the definition of sensory features, and no tools were found to have sufficient psychometric evidence for measuring sensory features in ASD. The review highlights significant shortcomings in current methods and suggests the need for psychometrically sound sensory assessment tools for use in ASD populations.

Summary: This study examines the sensory-processing and childhood participation of children with autism. The findings suggest that sensory processing difficulties are associated with specific childhood participation limitation, and children with autism have lower participation than typical children. Auditory filtering is identified as a key sensory processing difficulty that significantly lowers childhood participation in the autism group.

Summary: Emergency department (ED) care in Australia needs to adapt to meet the needs of older adults, people with disabilities, those with mental health conditions, Indigenous Australians, and those from culturally and linguistically diverse backgrounds. A 5-year collaborative project aims to co-design new or adapted models of care with input from ED users and providers to improve ED performance and patient outcomes for these five cohorts.

Summary: This study demonstrates the feasibility of neurofeedback intervention in individuals with sensory over-responsive (SOR) type. The intervention resulted in increased life satisfaction and goal attainment, as well as reduced pain sensitivity and anxiety trait. This suggests the potential of neurofeedback as a therapeutic modality for SOR.

Summary: This study aimed to understand occupational therapists' perceptions regarding support for the social-emotional needs of children and young people (CYP) with Developmental Coordination Disorder (DCD). Findings indicate that social-emotional support is not explicitly addressed in service provision for CYP with DCD. Occupational therapists recognize the need for improving social-emotional outcomes and have made some progress but more work remains to be done. The provision of holistic services is influenced by various factors, many of which are beyond individual therapists' control.

Summary: This study found that individuals with misophonia have higher sensory responsiveness compared to those without misophonia, but they are not classified as having sensory over-responsiveness (SOR). This suggests that misophonia and SOR are two distinct conditions, characterized by different behavioral responses to painful and non-painful stimuli.

Summary: This paper proposes a framework for practical doing skills in occupational therapy education to translate awareness of planetary health into action. It suggests rethinking clinical reasoning, incorporating environmental and sustainable reasoning, emphasizing bidirectional questioning for climate-just, person-centered care, and exploring interprofessional educational collaboration for environmental sustainability. Adopting these strategies has the potential to contribute to positive change for the occupational therapy profession and wider society.

Summary: Chronic fatigue syndrome (CFS) is three times more prevalent in women than in men. This study compared women with and without CFS in terms of social support and participation in daily activities, and assessed the relationships between these variables among women with CFS. The results showed that women with CFS have lower participation in daily activities and work, spend more time resting, and have less social support compared to women without CFS.

Summary: This study aimed to explore the association between infant sensory responsiveness and exclusive breastfeeding (EBF) and whether it can predict EBF cessation prior to 6 months of age. The study found that infants with atypical sensory responsiveness at 6 weeks had a higher likelihood of not practicing EBF at 6 months. Therefore, early identification of infant sensory responsiveness is important for understanding barriers to EBF and providing individualized breastfeeding support.

Summary: This preliminary study aims to characterize and compare the executive-functions, anxiety, self-efficacy, and sensory modulation in mothers of children with and without ADHD. The study found that mothers in the ADHD group had lower self-efficacy compared to the control group, while the control group had lower sensory responsiveness. The study also found correlations between executive-functions, anxiety, sensory modulation, and parental self-efficacy in both groups.
