Summary: This study aimed to explore the value of ultrasound in the preoperative diagnosis of NPT in children. The results showed that ultrasound had a high consistency rate when compared with surgical exploration and pathological results, especially in identifying EAT and IAT with normal testicular morphology.

Summary: The aim of this study was to assess the utility of shear wave elastography in the follow-up of testicular detorsion and explore its relationship with parameters such as tissue stiffness values, pain duration, and torsion type. The results showed that elastography can contribute to distinguishing focal lesion areas after testicular torsion from malignant conditions, providing a feasible and practical complementary modality for the follow-up of testicular salvage.

Summary: This study investigated the effect of testicular torsion-detorsion on mitochondrial oxidative phosphorylation in testicular tissues. The results showed that torsion-detorsion caused mitochondrial damage and dysregulation of oxidative phosphorylation in the twisted testes. Liquid chromatography-tandem mass spectrometry analysis revealed differential expression of mitochondrial proteins after torsion-detorsion.

Summary: The study aimed to investigate the clinical characteristics, treatment, and prognosis of cryptorchid testicular torsion in children. The results showed that cryptorchid testicular torsion is a rare urological emergency that is often misdiagnosed. Clinicians need to carefully review the patient's medical history, ultrasound findings, and perform a thorough physical examination to make a correct diagnosis, and the decision to perform orchidopexy or orchiectomy depends on the intraoperative situation.

Summary: Although recent studies have shown that Dex can alleviate IRI in various vital organs, in this experiment, Dex administration 3 h after ischemia and 1 h before reperfusion did not demonstrate a significant protective effect against testicular injury 4 weeks after IRI in rabbits. Further research is needed to confirm the potential therapeutic effects of Dex by varying the experimental conditions.

Summary: The study aimed to explore the clinical characteristics of testicular torsion in children with non-scrotal initial symptoms who were misdiagnosed. A retrospective analysis of 73 cases was performed, and significant differences were found between the misdiagnosis and clear diagnosis groups in terms of time from initial symptoms to surgery, number of visits, degree of torsion, and orchiectomy rate. Guardians should be aware of this pathology and seek timely medical attention. The TWIST score during physical examination may be useful for diagnosis and treatment.

Summary: This study summarizes the clinical experience in the diagnosis and surgical treatment of pediatric patients with splenic torsion. Imaging modalities are crucial for the diagnosis of splenic torsion and adjacent organ involvement. Preoperative thrombocytosis may predict splenic infarction. Spleen preserving surgery should be seriously considered over splenectomy in patients with a viable spleen.

Summary: Testicular replantation is a unique circumstance and there are very few reports documenting cases of testicle replantation following wrong site surgery. This case highlights the importance of applied microsurgical knowledge and interdisciplinary efforts to improve patient outcomes.

Summary: The main functions of the testis, steroidogenesis and spermatogenesis, depend on the endocrine axis and systemic and local tolerance mechanisms. Infectious or non-infectious diseases may disturb testicular immune regulation causing infertility. Little is known about the association between non-infectious testicular pathologic diseases and autoimmunity.

Summary: The study aimed to verify the usefulness of spectral Doppler ultrasonography in determining the development of testis after torsion in boys. It presents a new approach to the issue of long-term gonadal blood supply abnormalities after treatment of testicular torsion in childhood, but found no clear correlation between the type of testicular torsion, its duration, and the echogenicity of the testis.

Summary: This study aims to understand the incidence, etiology, and management of acute scrotal conditions, particularly testicular torsion. The results show that delayed presentation leads to testicular loss, highlighting the need for timely diagnosis and treatment, as well as education and awareness among parents, primary care providers, and pediatricians to prevent permanent testicular damage.

Summary: Mumps orchitis, caused by the mumps virus, commonly affects young adult men and leads to testis pain and swelling. Vaccination has been effective in reducing mumps incidence, but recent studies have highlighted the threat of outbreaks and high rates of orchitis on male fertility.

Summary: The aim of this study was to evaluate the current management of testicular torsion (TT) and investigate incidences of recurrent torsion and methods used for primary fixation. A multiple-choice questionnaire was distributed to paediatric surgeons and urologists in Poland. The majority agreed on fixation of the torsed testicle and the use of sutures, with no consensus on the number of sutures. The recurrence of torsion was identified and the use of non-absorbable sutures was recommended based on the survey and literature review.
