Summary: This study aimed to identify the adipokine potentially derived from subcutaneous adipose tissue (SAT) and its clinical significance. The results showed that GDF10 expression was higher in SAT than in VAT. Serum GDF10 concentration was high in patients with obesity, suggesting that GDF10 could be a SAT-derived protein related to obesity.

Summary: Metformin is widely used for glucose-lowering, promoting weight loss, improving insulin resistance, and reducing levels of adiponectin and resistin, which leads to improvement in patients with metabolic syndrome.

Summary: Adipose tissue acts as an endocrine organ in energy metabolism management through secretion of adipokines, hormones, and exosomes. Pathological processes like obesity can disrupt this secretory function, leading to dysfunction and contributing to metabolic changes and insulin resistance. Understanding the production, release, and content of exosomes from adipose tissue may be crucial in elucidating its role in metabolic disorders.

Summary: This study found a significant association between elevated serum GPC4 levels and an increased risk of MACE, vascular mortality, and all-cause mortality, indicating that higher levels of serum GPC4 are related to cardiovascular risk.

Summary: This study found that patients with NAFLD had lower circulating NRG-4 levels compared to the control group. Individuals in the highest quartile of NRG-4 had lower BMI, WC, TG, and HOMA-IR than those in the lowest quartile. Multiple regression analysis showed BMI, WC, TG, HDL-C, and HOMA-IR were independently related to NRG-4 level. The odds of NAFLD decreased by 41% per 1 SD increase in NRG-4 level.

Summary: Sonophotodynamic Therapy (SPDT) is a new approach that combines photodynamic therapy (PDT) and sonodynamic therapy (SDT). This study aims to evaluate the singlet oxygen production capacity of BODIPY compounds in SPDT and compare their potential applications in PDT. The results show that the synthesized BDPY4 compound may be a suitable agent in SPDT applications.

Summary: It was found that feeding working farm dogs an ultra-low CHO high fat diet was associated with decreased IG concentrations but increased activity levels. IG concentrations were positively correlated with dogs' activity levels regardless of diet. Events of low IG occurred at a low incidence and were mainly seen between late evening and early morning in dogs fed the ultra-low CHO high fat diet.

Summary: The aim of this study was to evaluate the association of serum uric acid with adiposity, adipokines, and anti-and oxidative markers in Brazilian children. We compared the distributions of adiposity, adipokines, and anti-and oxidative markers by serum uric acid categories using linear regression. The results showed a positive association between serum uric acid and adiposity, adipokines, and antioxidative status.

Summary: An asymmetric zinc phthalocyanine dye KH1 has been synthesized and applied as a sensitizer for DSSCs, showing high power conversion efficiency. Co-adsorption of CDCA and co-sensitization with organic dye RK1 can further enhance the performance of DSSCs. Theoretical calculations provide insights into the electronic and optical properties of KH1.
