Summary: Muscular bulging during mastication is a common complication of BoNTA treatment for Masseter Muscle Hypertrophy (MMH), but can be prevented with a specific injection technique, as demonstrated in 98 treatments with no remarkable complications. Extensive knowledge of muscular anatomy and appropriate injection technique are crucial for achieving desired results and avoiding complications in MMH treatment using BoNTA.

Summary: By studying the efficacy of botulinum toxin type A in the treatment of masseter muscle hypertrophy, it was found that BTA injection is a safe and effective non-invasive treatment option. However, the optimal number of injection units could not be determined due to wide variability and individual differences. The points of injection should be within the boundaries of the masseter muscle, and the maximum effect is usually observed within 3 months with a duration lasting 6-12 months.

Summary: This study evaluated the efficacy and safety of intramuscular injection of BTX in reducing deltoid muscle hypertrophy, showing a significant decrease in muscle thickness and improvement in clinical assessment scores post-treatment, although patient satisfaction scores were relatively low. No major complications were reported, suggesting that BTX-A injection may be a novel treatment option for deltoid muscle hypertrophy. Further larger clinical studies are warranted to confirm its efficacy.

Summary: This study aimed to compare the efficacy of different injection techniques in reducing masticatory muscle hypertrophy, with results indicating the difficulty of comparing efficacy of multi-point injection techniques. It is suggested to use the lowest number of injection sites possible until stronger evidence is presented. Uniformity in pre- and post-operative protocols is crucial for establishing a reliable research setting.

Summary: This study investigated the histomorphometric changes in the masseter muscle of rats after a single injection of botulinum toxin type A (BoNT-A). The results showed that the cross-sectional area of the masseter muscle was significantly lower in the BoNT-A group compared to the control group. Additionally, the BoNT-A group had increased myocyte quantity, decreased myocyte diameter, and increased connective tissue amount.

Summary: Botulinum toxin has become increasingly popular for various medical conditions and cosmetic purposes. Reported cases have shown a range of ophthalmic adverse events following facial injections, with diplopia, ptosis, and vision loss being the most common complications. It is important for clinicians to be aware of these potential adverse events to minimize complications.

Summary: The study demonstrated that ultrasound-guided five-point injection of botulinum toxin type A may be effective for patients with trapezius hypertrophy. Significant improvements were observed in trapezius muscle thickness, latencies, compound muscle action potentials at 12 weeks post-surgery, along with high patient satisfaction rates.

Summary: This study in Taiwan examined TSC patients and found that their demographics and disease prognosis were similar to previous literature on Asian populations. Late enrollment was a significant prognostic factor for all-cause mortality, with patients above 18 years old at higher risk. Average remaining lifetime was lower than the general population and decreased with age, indicating the importance of early diagnosis and careful monitoring for improved patient survival.
