Summary: This study aimed to determine the influence of different distribution of lean body mass (LBM) on aerobic fitness and performance in female collegiate rowers. The results showed that total LBM was a significant predictor of maximal aerobic capacity and time to exhaustion, while different regions of lean mass had varying degrees of influence on these measures.

Summary: This study found that both fat mass and lean mass index are positively associated with blood pressure levels, independently of other factors. Lean body mass is shown to be an important determinant of blood pressure levels, with a magnitude similar to fat mass. Excess muscle mass may not be beneficial to cardiovascular health.

Summary: Regular aerobic exercise has limited direct effects on morphine responsiveness, with reduction in morphine analgesia observed mainly in male participants. Compared to the control group, aerobic exercise produced analgesic effects more similar to those seen after receiving approximately 7 mg morphine preintervention.

Summary: This systematic review found evidence of a relationship between body fat and its central distribution with low back and knee pain, as well as a longitudinal relationship between adiposity and back, knee and foot pain. These results highlight the potential for developing novel treatments at these sites.

Summary: Supplementing with either a novel plant-based protein matrix or whey protein did not have any significant impact on body composition, strength, power, and endurance performance in high-level futsal players over 8 weeks. The study suggests that whey protein does not offer unique advantages over plant-based proteins in terms of muscle synthesis in the studied population. Additionally, additional protein supplementation does not affect body composition or performance in trained futsal players with a daily protein intake >1.6 g/kg BW.day(-1), regardless of the protein type/source.

Summary: The study aimed to assess aerobic fitness in patients with low back pain (LBP) and healthy individuals through two different aerobic fitness tests on a treadmill. Results showed that while there were no significant differences in performance between the two groups on the tests, the LBP group had a higher BMI compared to the healthy group. Overall, both groups were able to perform and tolerate the aerobic fitness tests well.

Summary: This study analyzed the relationship between the prevalence of chronic low back pain and risk factors such as obesity in the general Spanish population. The study found that obesity is an important factor contributing to chronic low back pain, and this association persists even when considering other factors such as sex, age, physical occupational demands, and recreational physical activity.

Summary: Implementing and performing early mobilization in critically ill patients is a complex process that requires multidisciplinary input and cooperation. Various surveys have been developed to gain insights into its facilitators and barriers. A systematic review identified 13 unique questionnaires with wide variations in development extent, but only six assessed validity and reliability. Recommendations for choosing a questionnaire depend on the aim of its use, required level of detail, and specifics of the ICU.

Summary: The study examined the test-retest reliability and concurrent validity of the Adapted Short QUestionnaire to Assess Health-enhancing physical activity (Adapted-SQUASH) in adults with disabilities. The results suggest that while the Adapted-SQUASH is acceptable for assessing self-reported physical activity in large populations of adults with disabilities, there are limitations at the individual level, and differences exist between self-reported physical activity assessed with the Adapted-SQUASH and physical activity assessed with the Actiheart activity monitor.

Summary: This study investigates the relationship between trends in daily HRV and stress, depression, anxiety, and somatisation. Results suggest that an increasing trend in HRVsd is associated with increases in stress and somatisation, while an increasing trend in HRV buffers against the association between HRVsd trend and somatisation change. However, depression and anxiety were not related to trends in HRV or HRVsd.

Summary: Positive attitudes towards family involvement are crucial for improving collaboration in nursing care. This study found that only a minority of nurses viewed families as collaboration partners or actively involved them in patient care planning. Nurses' attitudes were influenced by work experience, work setting, and existing family policies in patient care. Policies should be implemented to encourage family involvement and educational institutions need to emphasize its importance in nursing care.
