Summary: With the increasing diffusion of technological systems in the real world, fault diagnosis has become essential for system reliability, security, and efficiency. This paper focuses on causal model-based diagnosis of spatially distributed systems using colored Petri nets (CPNs), introducing the colored behavioral Petri net (CBPN) model and CW-analysis technique for backward reachability analysis. In a multiagent system, each agent is responsible for diagnosing an associated subsystem using CBPN reachability, and collaboration is necessary to ensure global consistency of the obtained diagnoses.

Summary: This study presents a comprehensive systematic review of sustainability reporting research in Africa. The findings suggest that Africa still has a long way to go in terms of the extent and quality of SDGs and sustainability reporting. The existing studies primarily focus on the determinants of sustainability reporting, with limited research on outcomes and sustainability assurance. Moreover, firms in Africa tend to prioritize reporting economic and social impacts over environmental protection.

Summary: This paper explores numerical methods for the linear complementarity problem (LCP), transforming it into an equivalent fixed-point equation using a positive diagonal parameter matrix. The general fixed-point (GFP) method is proposed and analyzed for P-matrix system matrices, with concrete conditions provided for symmetric positive definite matrices or H+-matrices. Numerical experiments demonstrate the effectiveness and practicality of the GFP method.

Summary: A general method is proposed to solve multi-objective de novo programming problems involving both maximizing and minimizing objectives. This method provides a platform to achieve a maximum number of objectives to their ideal values, while also allowing decision-makers to prioritize objectives. The proposed method is demonstrated with a numerical problem and a real-life example, and compared with two existing methods for such problems.

Summary: An increasing number of patients worldwide suffers from chronic kidney disease (CKD). Currently, there is no specific antifibrotic therapy for kidney patients and invasive renal biopsy remains the only option for specific detection and quantification of kidney fibrosis. This review discusses emerging diagnostic approaches and potential therapeutic options for fibrosis, as well as the importance of translational research in establishing fibrosis-specific endpoints for clinical trials.

Summary: Tumor cells use extracellular vesicles as a vital pathway for communication with non-malignant cells, employing various strategies for survival and dissemination in the tumor environment. These vesicles carry different molecules that, when internalized by target cells, activate signaling pathways and molecular processes, promoting and disseminating neoplastic cells. Proteins, nucleic acids, and cytokines, such as interleukins, are the main types of molecules carried by extracellular vesicles, and their association reveals potential approaches for the diagnosis and therapeutics of various neoplasms.

Summary: Counterfeit and falsified medicines are a global threat to public health. This review study aims to analyze relevant research on preventing or reducing the presence of counterfeit and falsified medicines through digital intervention. The study found that the issue of counterfeit and falsified medicines has gained significant attention in research and investigation. Advanced technologies such as Blockchain, IoT, RFID, image processing, and pattern recognition are being utilized to address this issue effectively. The study also highlights future research opportunities, including exploring emerging technologies, identifying contamination points in the medicine supply chain, investigating less emphasized concerns, exploring all possible use-cases or features of digital solutions, and developing a reporting system for counterfeit/falsified incidents. The implication of this study is to identify research gaps and provide future research directions focused on leveraging information and communication technology to prevent the use of counterfeit and falsified medicines.

Summary: This cross-sectional study aimed to investigate the factors associated with alcohol consumption among early adolescents in Thailand. The findings suggest that older age, positive attitude towards alcohol consumption, direct observation of friends and community members drinking, parents storing alcohol at home, and exposure to alcohol advertising are positively associated with current drinking among adolescents. Male gender appears to have an inverse association with current drinking.

Summary: Turkey hosts the largest proportion of Syrian refugees globally, with Syrian refugees having similar healthcare rights as Turkish citizens, however, there are barriers limiting access to healthcare. Informal clinics operated by Syrian healthcare professionals have emerged to meet the healthcare needs of the Syrian population, despite lacking authorization from the Ministry of Health. Participants in the study suggested that formal authorization for Syrian healthcare workforce to practice in Turkey would be a positive step towards caring for the Syrian population.

Summary: This study aims to explore the positive factors related to working in general practice in France from the perspectives of medical students, trainees, and general practitioners (GPs). The study consists of qualitative research involving different age groups, including 67 medical students, 22 trainees, and 71 GPs. The results reveal several positive themes such as commitment to general practice, doctor-patient care, skills and competencies, work-life balance, and relationships with the professional and social communities. The study highlights the importance of freedom in choosing a working environment and opportunities for professional development for GPs, and indicates optimism about the future of general practice among both younger and older GPs.

Summary: The combination of SGLT2 and RAAS inhibitors in the treatment of patients with T2DM may be similar in efficacy and safety if not superior to SGLT2-Is alone according to aggregate published data from randomized controlled trials. Further head-to-head comparisons between the two interventions are warranted to inform T2DM management, especially in the prevention of renal deterioration and cardiovascular complications.
