Summary: In this study on adenoid cystic carcinoma (ACC), the expression of MMP-9 in pseudocysts and peritumoural inflammatory cells was found to be associated with better survival and fewer treatment failures. High tumoural MMP-7 and-25 were linked to better survival, while high tumoural MMP-15 was associated with poorer survival and high tumoural MMP-9 with advanced stage and regional recurrences. Tumour cells did not show MMP-8 immunopositivity. These results suggest potential roles for MMPs in ACC carcinogenesis and prognosis.

Summary: This study investigated the gene expression of metalloproteinases before and after Roux-en-Y gastric bypass (RYBG) in obese individuals. The results showed that RYGB significantly contributes to weight loss, improved BMI, reduced fat mass, and decreased TIMP2 expression, which might play a role in extracellular matrix remodeling in obesity and could serve as a potential circulating biomarker.

Summary: This study investigates the molecular mechanisms of muscle regeneration in the holothurian Eupentacta fraudatrix. Through sequencing analysis, it was found that most genes associated with muscle development decrease their expression during regeneration. However, genes related to heart valve development showed increased expression, indicating their potential ancient role in mesodermal structure transformation. Additionally, several transcription factors and matrix metalloproteinase genes were identified to play a key role in muscle regeneration.

Summary: Intracerebral hemorrhage (ICH) is a disease caused by cerebrovascular damage, leading to hematoma enlargement, brain edema, and physical injury in the brain parenchyma. Matrix metalloproteinases (MMPs) are a group of endopeptidases that can degrade components of the extracellular matrix and promote neuroinflammation. After ICH, several MMPs are upregulated and may have different functions at different stages. The glycoprotein extracellular matrix metalloproteinase inducer (EMMPRIN, CD147) induces the production of MMPs. The interactions between MMPs and EMMPRIN/CD147 in ICH are complex.
