Summary: In this study, a new series of benzoxazolone-thiosemicarbazide/1,2,4-triazole/1,3,4-thiadiazole hybrids were designed and synthesized. The compounds showed good inhibitory activities on AChE and further studies were conducted on the most potent inhibitor compound regarding enzyme kinetics and molecular docking.

Summary: This study designed and synthesized a series of carvacrol-based thiosemicarbazide and 1,3,4-thiadiazole derivatives, and characterized their structures using nuclear magnetic resonance and high resolution mass spectroscopy. The compounds showed potent inhibitory activities against human carbonic anhydrase I and II, acetylcholinesterase, and butyrylcholinesterase enzymes compared to standard molecules. Molecular docking analysis identified some compounds with superior efficacy against specific enzymes.

Summary: This study investigated the palladium-catalyzed direct (het)arylation reactions of electron-withdrawing tricyclic benzo[1,2-d:4,5-d']bis([1,2,3]thiadiazole) and its 4,8-dibromo derivative. Selective formation of mono- and bis-aryl derivatives was achieved under specific conditions. The direct C-H arylation of benzo[1,2-d:4,5-d']bis([1,2,3]thiadiazole) with bromo(iodo)arenes and -thiophenes in the presence of palladium acetate and di-tert-butyl(methyl)phosphonium tetrafluoroborate salt proved to be a powerful tool for selective formation of 4-mono- and 4,8-di(het)arylated benzo-bis-thiadiazoles. Oxidative double C-H hetarylation of benzo[1,2-d:4,5-d']bis([1,2,3]thiadiazole) with thiophenes in the presence of Pd(OAc)(2) and silver (I) oxide in DMSO successfully prepared bis-thienylbenzo-bis-thiadiazoles with moderate yields.

Summary: In this study, bis-thiadiazole and bis-oxadiazol derivative molecules were synthesized and their ionophore properties were investigated. The synthesized molecules exhibited selectivity towards copper(II) ions. The copper(II)-selective electrode prepared with bis-thiadiazole derivative molecule exhibited near-Nernstian behavior over a wide linear working range of 1.0 x 10-6- 1.0 x 10-1 mol L-1, with a low detection limit of 9.02 x 10-7 mol L-1. This electrode showed fast response time, good selectivity, repeatability, and remained unaffected by pH. The developed electrode successfully determined copper(II) ions in various water samples with high recoveries.

Summary: A highly efficient ionic liquid catalyzed protocol has been developed for the synthesis of 5-(4-substituted-phenyl)-1,3,4-thiadiazole-2-amine derivatives. The protocol utilizes recyclable N-methylpyridiniumtosylate as an ionic liquid and involves the cyclocondensation of diversely substituted aromatic carboxylic acid and thiosemicarbazide. The remarkable features of this protocol include high efficiency, low cost, solvent and metal free conditions, high step and atom efficiency, and excellent yield (95%-98%).

Summary: Two novel organic-inorganic hybrid iodoplumbates were synthesized under hydrothermal conditions, featuring a unique pentanuclear cluster and unprecedented 2-D polyiodoplumbate layer. Both compounds exhibit potential semiconductor properties with narrow absorption edges, and one of them also shows photocurrent response and photoluminescent properties.

Summary: We designed and synthesized a series of novel acridine-triazole and acridine-thiadiazole derivatives. These compounds showed high levels of antitumor activity against gastric cancer cells and bladder cancer cells, while exhibiting low toxicity to normal liver cells. Moreover, their pharmacological mechanisms and effects on cell cycle and apoptosis were evaluated. Furthermore, these compounds demonstrated low cytotoxicity to zebrafish but strong inhibition of the formation of zebrafish sub-intestinal veins, suggesting potential clinical applications.

Summary: The synthesis of targeted thiadiazole-triazole analogs hybridized with thiophene was achieved through heterocyclization using different thiocarbamoyl reagents. The HOMO-LUMO energies and Fukui's indices were determined by DFT/B3LYP molecular modeling. The compounds exhibited a low and close HOMO-LUMO energy gap, with hybrid 7 having the lowest value and hybrid 4 having the highest. The antioxidant properties of the hybrids were investigated using the DPPH radical scavenging technique, where hybrids 4 and 6 showed the strongest inhibition. The docking study using PDB code 3MNG revealed that hybrid 6 had the highest binding score among the hybrids.

Summary: A novel halogen bonding (XB) motif has been successfully incorporated into a [2]rotaxane using a discrete chloride anion template directed clipping methodology. Anion titration experiments show that the interlocked host can strongly bind halide and sulfate oxoanions in competitive aqueous-organic solvent mixtures. Compared to a hydrogen bonding rotaxane analogue, the XB rotaxane exhibits a preference towards lighter halides Cl- ≈ Br- > SO42- > I-.

Summary: Benzo[1,2-d:4,5-d']bis([1,2,3]thiadiazole) (isoBBT) is a new electron-withdrawing building block that can be used to obtain potentially interesting compounds for the synthesis of OLEDs and organic solar cells components. The incorporation of bromine atoms improves the electrical deficiency of bromobenzo-bis-thiadiazoles nearly without affecting aromaticity, which increases the reactivity of these compounds in aromatic nucleophilic substitution reactions and cross-coupling reactions. Selective conditions for the synthesis of monoarylated derivatives of 4-bromobenzo[1,2-d:4,5-d']bis([1,2,3]thiadiazole) were found, which can be useful for building organic semiconductor-based devices.

Summary: A photocatalytic chemodivergent reaction was proposed to selectively form C-S and C-N bonds in a controlled manner. The reaction medium, either neutral or acidic, plays a critical role in dictating the formation of 2-amino-1,3,4-thiadiazoles and 1,2,4-triazole-3-thiones from isothiocyanates and hydrazones. This protocol offers a practical approach to achieve chemoselectivity under mild and metal-free conditions.
