The intermolecular dearomatization reaction of indoles with allylic alcohols has been realized by a Ru-complex in the presence of catalytic amount of TsOH center dot H2O. The reaction proceeded mainly via a cascade sequence including allylic dearomatization/cyclization/allylic amination reaction, enabling the introduction of an allylic substituent at both the C-3 and N-1 positions of indoles.
