Summary: The study aims to characterize the biomass of acai seeds and establish technical parameters for producing high-quality briquettes, with temperature having a greater influence on the characteristics of the briquettes than pressure. Higher temperature and lower pressure resulted in better compression strength for the briquettes, while increased pressure led to decreased water absorption rate. Overall, improving pressure and utilizing temperature effectively can enhance the quality and energy density of the briquettes, making them suitable for combustion in boilers.

Summary: Androgens play various roles in human physiology, from reproductive behaviors to cognitive functions. This study investigated the effects of low testosterone levels on olfactory functions in men, finding a significant correlation between testosterone levels and olfactory parameters. Further molecular research is needed to understand the connection between testosterone and olfaction.

Summary: This study reviewed the effects of functional orthodontic appliances in treating pediatric obstructive sleep apnea. The results showed that these appliances improved the apnea-hypopnea index and respiratory function in the short term. However, there are significant deficiencies in the existing evidence, including lack of control groups, small sample sizes, lack of randomization, and absence of long-term results.

Summary: The study aimed to evaluate the effects of leaching fraction on sugarcane varieties in saline soil. Two cycles of cultivation were considered, with three varieties and three leaching fractions of irrigation water. Varieties SP943206 and VAT90212 showed higher yield at a leaching fraction of 9.1%, with VAT90212 also having higher water use efficiency. Reducing soil salinity through leaching did not significantly affect the technological quality of sugarcane varieties RB72454, SP943206 and VAT90212.

Summary: The study evaluated the levels of protodioscin in Brachiaria spp., comparing differences between B. decumbens and B. brizantha, and reviewed the literature on toxicity mechanisms and treatment methods. The results suggest that Brachiaria spp. should be avoided in pastures where sheep are grazing to prevent poisoning incidents.

Summary: The biological variation of the earliest skeletons in South America has been a subject of intense debate. This study presents the first radiocarbon-date for an early Holocene human skeleton from Brazil and analyzes the craniometric data to discuss the evolutionary processes involved in the occupation of the continent. The findings suggest that the early individuals were part of the same lineage with moderate morphological variation and possibly different from the late Holocene populations.

Summary: This paper presents a statistical model to explain the factors influencing the judicial protection of rights in cases related to covid-19 in the Brazilian Federal Judiciary. The results reveal that the probability of obtaining judicial protection depends on the procedural characteristics, author profiles, underlying interests, and topic of the case. The analysis also shows that states, the Federal District, and municipalities are the most successful in obtaining favorable judicial decisions in demands associated with flexible application of legal rules. The model further suggests that the Federal Judiciary remains impartial, maintaining the status quo rather than favoring extreme political positions.
