Two novel silver complexes [Ag-2(Hsal)(2)](n) (1) and [Ag-2(oda)](n) (2) (H(2)sal = salicylic acid, H(2)oda = oxydiacetatic acid) were synthesized hydrothermally by reaction of AgNO3 with H(2)sal or H2oda and characterized by IR spectroscopy, elemental analysis, and single-crystal X-ray diffraction. Compound 1 shows a 2D metal-or-ganic architecture connected by mu(3)-eta(1):eta(1):eta(1)-salicylato ligands and Ag- Ag interactions. Compound 2 displays a 3D metal-organic network formed by mu(7)-(eta(2):eta(1))-(eta(2):eta(1))-eta(1)-oxydiacetato ligands and Ag-Ag interactions. The photoluminescence properties of both complexes were also investigated.
