Summary: The distribution and conservation of vulnerable marine ecosystems (VMEs) are hindered by the limited adoption of VME distribution models. This study critically reviews VME distribution modelling studies and recommends guidelines for improving the relevance and impact of these models for policy and management decision making. The guidelines include the need for more precise VME data and specific criteria for identifying VMEs, along with the mapping of vulnerability.

Summary: The study found that indoor-only cats showed more interest in artificial prey items, approached and played with balls faster than indoor-outdoor cats, and had fewer failed attempts at catching the chaser if they were raised with their mother for a longer duration. Despite being completely deprived of experience with live prey, indoor-only cats still showed interest in stimuli resembling prey.

Summary: The research found that a more analytic cognitive style is associated with lower religiosity, but individuals who experience religion more symbolically do not fit this pattern. Moreover, individuals with a higher need for cognitive closure are positively associated with a more literal interpretation of religion.

Summary: The study by Gonzalez-Estrada and colleagues found an estimated risk of severe or fatal perioperative anaphylaxis of one in 6,825 procedures during the period 2005-2014. This risk is slightly higher than that reported in France and England. Several predictors of near-fatal and fatal reactions were identified, such as increased age, cancer, and congestive cardiac failure.

Summary: This study compared the prevalence of sarcopenia in older adults with type 2 diabetes using the old and new Asian Working Group on Sarcopenia (AWGS) criteria, and explored the effects of sarcopenia on adverse outcomes. The study found significant differences in sarcopenia prevalence among different criteria, with AWGS2019H having the highest prevalence. Cox regression analysis showed that all three AWGS criteria for sarcopenia were associated with adverse outcomes.

Summary: The use of beta-blockers has long been associated with the risk of depression. However, a recent meta-analysis found that beta-blockers were not associated with an increased risk of depression, but were linked to higher risks of fatigue, tiredness, and unusual dreams. This suggests that the symptoms of fatigue and unusual dreams may be mistaken for depression, leading to the perceived association between beta-blockers and depression risk.
