Summary: This study compared the efficacy and safety of endoscopic cyanoacrylate injection and balloon-occluded retrograde transvenous obliteration (BRTO) to prevent rebleeding in patients with cirrhosis and gastric varices. The results showed that BRTO was more effective in preventing rebleeding from gastric varices, with similar impacts on complications and mortality.

Summary: The risk of esophageal variceal bleeding within 30 days of ERCP is negligible, except for a patient who suffered from gastric variceal bleeding. Other complications, such as nonvariceal bleeding and pancreatitis, are also not higher in patients with esophageal varices.

Summary: We presented a case of gastroesophageal varices in a patient with decompensated liver cirrhosis associated with Wil-son's disease. The varices involved the paraesophageal vein, and we initially treated them with endoscopic variceal ligation (EVL) and sclerotherapy. However, the patient experienced bleeding from the ulcer after EVL, which was successfully controlled with EVL and combination therapy of percutaneous transhepatic obliteration and Sengstaken-Blakemore tube placement.

Summary: Ectopic varices are an uncommon cause of gastrointestinal bleeding in patients with portal hypertension. We report a case of a 43-year-old female with alcoholic cirrhosis who developed massive hematochezia and hemorrhagic shock, requiring emergent angiography and image-guided intervention. Treatment involved percutaneous transhepatic embolization of the bleeding colic vein, with successful outcome demonstrated on post-embolization angiography.

Summary: Hepatic lymphorrhea is a rare complication that can lead to refractory ascites, with only a few successfully treated cases reported so far. The use of n-butyl-2-cyanoacrylate (NBCA) glue embolization may be a treatment option for controlling ascites derived from hepatic lymphorrhea.

Summary: Esophagogastric variceal bleeding is a common complication of portal hypertension, especially in patients with liver cirrhosis, and has a high mortality rate. The current treatment methods include drug therapy, compression hemostasis, endoscopic therapy, and interventional and surgical operations. The combined application of endoscopy and intervention is increasingly recognized in clinical practice.

Summary: A 73-year-old man, post-liver transplantation, developed massive bleeding from hepatic artery pseudoaneurysm during ERCP. The feeding artery of the pseudoaneurysm could not be identified via angiography, so trans-abdominal ultrasonography was performed and percutaneous transhepatic glue embolization was successfully conducted.

Summary: This study investigated the safety and therapeutic effect of EUS-guided coil placement and cyanoacrylate glue injection for gastric varices with obvious spontaneous portosystemic shunts. The results showed that all patients underwent successful coil placement and cyanoacrylate glue injection, with no rebleeding or ectopic embolism occurring. The combination of cyanoacrylate glue and coil placement is a safe and effective treatment method for patients with gastric variceal bleeding and obvious spontaneous portosystemic shunts.

Summary: This study explores the effects of exosomal H2AFJ derived from hepatocytes on the activation of hepatic stellate cells (HSCs) and liver fibrosis. It was found that H2AFJ, released by hepatocytes through exosomes, promotes HSC migration and invasion by activating the MAPK/STMN1 signaling pathway, exacerbating liver fibrosis. Silencing H2AFJ attenuates liver fibrosis in mice, while restoration of STMN1 negates this effect. This study provides a potential therapeutic target for alleviating liver fibrosis.

Summary: The aging Chinese population is projected to reach 28% by 2040, estimated at 402 million. The burden on public health policy due to health risks and diseases among the aging population necessitates promotion of healthy and active aging. This review investigates the association between physical activity and physical/mental health among older Chinese adults. The findings highlight the impact of physical activity on various health variables and suggest the need for diverse physical activity interventions.

Summary: This study compared the clinical outcomes of clip-assisted endoscopic cyanoacrylate injection (clip-ECI) to conventional endoscopic cyanoacrylate injection (con-ECI) for the treatment of gastric varices (GVs) with a gastrorenal shunt. The results showed that clip-ECI was more effective than con-ECI, requiring fewer treatment sessions and achieving a lower 6-month rebleeding rate.

Summary: In a meta-analysis, the researchers aimed to estimate the size and variability of habit-behavior and intention-behavior relations while investigating theory-consistent moderators. They found that habit and intention independently predicted behavior, with habit partially mediating past-future behavior relations. Larger habit-behavior relations were observed in studies targeting behaviors with high habit formation opportunity and lower complexity. The findings support and extend previous research on habit and its measures.

Summary: This study aimed to investigate the associations between perceived physical environments, constructs of the theory of planned behavior (TPB), habit strength, and adherence to 24-h movement guidelines in Chinese adolescents. The findings showed that attitude, subjective norm, and perceived behavioral control had direct effects on intention, and intention had a direct effect on the number of guidelines being met. Habit strength was a significant predictor of adherence to the guidelines.
