Summary: This study evaluated the feasibility, safety, and outcomes of transvaginal natural orifice transluminal endoscopic surgery (vNOTES) hysterectomy performed at three institutions in Italy. The results showed that vNOTES had shorter operation times, lower postoperative pain levels, and lower complication rates. This suggests that vNOTES is a feasible alternative to conventional surgery.

Summary: The study found that vNOTES hysterectomy can be safely performed for benign uterine disease requiring hysterectomy, but it may be associated with higher postoperative vaginal pain intensity compared to LESS hysterectomy. Operation time was longer in the LESS group, but there were no differences in other outcomes.

Summary: This study compared the operative outcomes of vaginal natural orifice transluminal endoscopic surgery (vNOTES) and single-port access (SPA) adnexectomy. The vNOTES group showed a low postoperative pain score and less use of analgesic medications compared to the SPA group. Other surgical outcomes were comparable between the two groups.

Summary: The study aimed to evaluate the efficacy and safety of transvaginal natural orifice transluminal endoscopic surgery (vNOTES) in the treatment of female infertility. The results showed that compared to the LESS group, the vNOTES group had a shorter postoperative bowel movement time and less pain at 4 and 12 hours. vNOTES represents a new, less invasive approach for infertility diagnosis and treatment that is particularly suitable for women who have special esthetic requirements, and it may be an ideal choice for scarless infertility surgery.

Summary: This study describes the use of a vaginal natural orifice transluminal endoscopic surgery approach to repair a uterine isthmocele. This approach is considered a novel and potentially less invasive method that combines vaginal surgery and endoscopic magnification. It should be performed in carefully selected patients.

Summary: The study evaluated the feasibility and safety of hysterectomy and adnexal procedures by vaginal natural orifice transluminal endoscopic surgery (vNOTES). Although there were three complications, vNOTES offers advantages to patients and surgeons, with surgical techniques continuing to be developed in this field. The learning curve analysis showed that port-installation time and total operation time appeared to reach proficiency level by the 10th case.

Summary: This study compared the surgical outcomes of gasless and traditional robot-assisted transvaginal natural orifice transluminal endoscopic surgery (GR-vNOTES vs. TR-vNOTES) in hysterectomy. The results showed that both techniques had similar operative outcomes and no complications. GR-vNOTES is a feasible and safe alternative to TR-vNOTES in hysterectomy.

Summary: This article introduces a novel robotic instrument that can assist in Natural Orifice Transluminal Endoscopic Surgery (NOTES). The instrument has a diameter of 6.5 mm and 7 degrees of freedom (DOF). It utilizes helical springs with high torsional rigidity for three continuum elastic joints, and patterned concentric tubes to change the stiffness of the force transmission structure. Analytical solutions for inverse kinematics are obtained based on the arrangement of coupled joints. A disk-elastomer model is established to simplify the derivation of kinematics, and the relationship between cable slack and joint parameters is derived. Experimental results verify the trajectory tracking accuracy, bending accuracy, and variable stiffness ability of the proposed instrument.

Summary: The study found that serum transferrin levels correlated with hepatic transferrin expression in patients with advanced liver disease. Reduced HNF4 alpha and transferrin protein levels were confirmed in individuals with cirrhosis. In alcoholic hepatitis patients, a relationship between transferrin and HNF4 alpha was observed, while inflammatory factors were negatively associated with transferrin signature.

Summary: The study found higher structural connectivity in the cerebello-thalamo-cortical network in ET patients compared to healthy controls, while tremor-dominant PD patients and PD patients without tremor showed similar results, with shared nodes with ET's tremor network. This suggests that the cerebello-thalamo-cortical network may be the dominant driver of tremor in both PD and ET, potentially explaining the different clinical features of tremor in these two disorders.

Summary: This study aims to analyze data on Silesian patients after kidney transplantation, considering death time and graft failure time as competing events. Model diagnostics are used to identify violations of the proportionality assumption under the subdistribution and cause-specific hazards framework. The results show that violations of the proportional subdistribution hazards assumption can be conveniently identified using residual diagnostics and properly accounted for by involving time interactions.

Summary: Probiotic supplementation with Escherichia coli O83:K24:H31 (EcO83) in neonates of allergic mothers (AMs) was found to decrease allergy incidence and modulate immune markers, possibly through modulation of dendritic cell (DC) functional capacities. However, EcO83 supplementation had no significant impact on the microbiota composition in 10-year-old children.

Summary: This study compared the healing of biolimus A9 (BES) and everolimus drug-eluting stents (EES) in patients with ST-segment elevation myocardial infarction (STEMI) treated by primary percutaneous coronary intervention (pPCI). The results showed that the rate of major adverse cardiovascular events (MACE) was similar in both groups at 9 months, and angiographic data were also comparable. However, the BES group had a smaller mean neointimal area but a higher proportion of uncovered struts compared to the EES group.

Summary: The development of new quantitative MRI metrics allows for the evaluation of various biological processes relevant to aging in vivo. This study combines multiple MRI parameters to detect distinct biological characteristics such as myelin density, cellularity, cellular membrane integrity, and iron concentration. The findings highlight the importance of considering age-related factors when interpreting MRI metrics and suggest the need for complex multi-modal approaches in order to achieve accurate histological MRI.
