Summary: The incidence of young-onset colorectal cancer (YCRC) is increasing, and there may be an association between iron-deficiency anaemia (IDA), haematochezia, and YCRC in US Veterans aged 18-49. By comparing individuals with IDA or haematochezia to those without, the cumulative incidence and risk of YCRC can be assessed.

Summary: CHPF is upregulated in gastric cancer tissues and correlates with tumor infiltration, advanced tumor stage, and shorter patient survival. It may promote gastric cancer development by regulating cell proliferation, colony formation, cell apoptosis, and cell migration, with knockdown inducing opposite effects. Additionally, CHPF may regulate E2F1 through affecting UBE2T-mediated E2F1 ubiquitination.

Summary: This study explored the association between gestational age and the risk of primary malignant cancer, finding that shorter gestational ages were linked to increased cancer risk, particularly for women, those born small for gestational age, childhood cancers, and certain cancer sites. It was also discovered that individuals born between 30 and 35 weeks gestation may have an increased risk of primary malignant cancer up to young adulthood, and increasing gestational ages may reduce the risk of testicular and liver cancer.

Summary: Recent research in Spain has shown an increased incidence of ischemic stroke (IS) in young adults, with a higher percentage of vascular risk factors. This study analyzed data from a nationwide inpatient sample and estimated the in-hospital incidence of IS and its comorbidities by sex and age group. The findings revealed a higher incidence of IS in men under the age of 50, and young adults with IS had a higher prevalence of vascular risk factors compared to the general population. These results provide important insights for primary and secondary prevention strategies.

Summary: The study revealed the crucial regulatory role of m(6)A modification genes in gastric cancer (GC) development, with the SNP rs9906944 C > T in IGF2BP1 significantly associated with a decreased risk of GC. Higher expression of IGF2BP1 was linked to poorer overall survival in GC patients.

Summary: Gastric cancer is a complex and heterogeneous disease with multiple risk factors, and it remains a significant global health burden despite declining incidence and mortality rates. In China, gastric cancer ranks third in both incidence and mortality globally, accounting for a large proportion of new cases and deaths. There are regional differences in the incidence and mortality rates, with rapid increases in some developing regions. Therefore, there is an urgent need for early preventive and screening strategies, as well as the development of novel immunotherapies for the management of gastric cancer patients.

The results showed that multivariable models had limited additional discriminatory value over age alone, suggesting that the selection strategy for primary AF screening should not be expanded to younger individuals.

Summary: The study found that glucose excretion occurs in the small intestine after RYGB surgery, mediated by the AREG/EGFR/mTOR/AKT/GLUT1 signaling pathway; Increased GLUT1 expression in the small intestinal mucosa leads to more serum glucose being excreted in the gut lumen; AREG treatment can enhance GLUT1 expression, preventing exacerbation of hyperglycemia.

Considering that the effect of adjuvant treatment to decrease the risk of tumor recurrence is not clear, it may not be indicated in pT1N1 patients.

Summary: The ability to predict the survival and response to treatment of gastric cancer patients can be improved by generating a 32 gene signature. This study identifies four prognostic molecular subtypes through genomic profiling and shows that the 32-gene signature is a promising prognostic and predictive biomarker for guiding the clinical care of gastric cancer patients.

Summary: Conversion therapy for stage IV gastric cancer is safe and could be a new therapeutic strategy to improve the survival of patients, especially those with R0 resection. Operative complications were observed in 24.0% of patients, with pancreatic fistula and surgical site infection being the most common. The overall survival rate varied depending on the extent of resection, with R0 resection resulting in the most favorable outcomes.

Summary: This study analyzed the survival outcomes of gastric cancer patients receiving neoadjuvant chemotherapy and found that the initial radiological clinical stage and post-neoadjuvant chemotherapy pathological stage were independent factors affecting survival outcomes. Summary: This study compared the effects of LDL cholesterol (LDL-C), non-HDL cholesterol (non-HDL-C), and apolipoprotein B (ApoB) on the development of atherosclerotic cardiovascular disease (ASCVD). The results showed that ApoB was the highest risk factor for ASCVD, followed by non-HDL-C and LDL-C. Measuring ApoB concentrations can provide useful information for evaluating ASCVD risk, even in individuals with normal LDL-C levels and ASCVD risk factors.

Summary: This study reveals the critical role of JAG1 in cancer cell plasticity and maintenance of tumor heterogeneity in PDAC. In PDAC assembloids, ECs and immune cells act as tumor-supporting cells inducing plasticity in differentiated ductal carcinomas. Furthermore, the high expression of WNT5B in ECs is positively correlated with the expressions of JAG1, NOTCH1, and NOTCH2, and high JAG1 expression is associated with poor survival.
