Summary: This study investigated the potential of vascular endothelial growth factor C (VEGF-C) in serum as a predictive biomarker for response to antiangiogenic therapy in ovarian cancer patients. The results showed that patients with higher levels of VEGF-C in serum had significantly increased chances of response to bevacizumab treatment. Therefore, VEGF-C serum level may serve as a useful biomarker for evaluating treatment response to bevacizumab.

Summary: This study investigated the therapeutic efficacy of lenvatinib combined with sequential TACE on primary HCC and its effects on serum bFGF and VEGF. The results showed that the combination treatment group had a higher objective response rate, lower serum bFGF and VEGF levels, and better survival rates.

Summary: This study investigated two cases of granulosa cell tumors (GCTs) to find a biomarker for evaluating treatment and predicting recurrence. The findings suggest that serum vascular endothelial growth factor (VEGF) levels can be used as a clinical biomarker for disease progression in GCTs and to determine the efficacy of bevacizumab therapy.

Summary: Through studying the tumor vascular environment, the use of the endothelial index (EI) and vascular microenvironment signatures (VMS) can better assess tumor vascular density, which is associated with prognosis in certain cancer types. These findings suggest that these metrics may enable more precise deployment of antiangiogenesis therapy.

Summary: Atopic dermatitis is a chronic, highly pruritic, relapsing-remitting inflammatory skin disease. This study found that the serum levels of EDN and VEGF were significantly increased in patients with AD, while the level of PAF showed no significant difference. In AD patients, there was a positive correlation between the EDN level and the severity of the disease.

Summary: Circulating VEGF levels were found to be elevated 24-48 hours after acute ischemic stroke and were associated with prognosis of moderate to severe disability at 6 months. Combining VEGF with interleukin 6 and C-reactive protein significantly improved predictive performance compared to using VEGF alone.

Summary: This article presents a new aptasensing platform for sensitive and specific detection of malignancy-associated biomarkers. The platform utilizes alkaline-earth sulfide nanodots as fluorescent labels, which can be excited by near-infrared light, to achieve low detection limits and reliable quantification. Additionally, the platform enables visual analysis and detection of target analytes through color transformation.

Summary: Cancer is a deadly disease characterized by unregulated cell growth that can occur in any part of the body. Detecting ovarian cancer early can help lower the death rate, and aptamers have shown promise as probes for ovarian cancer detection. Compared to other probes, aptamers are more effective in targeting ovarian cancer. Several aptamers have been developed to detect the ovarian tumor marker VEGF, and this review discusses their potential for early-stage ovarian cancer detection and treatment efficacy.

Summary: The FGF-FGFR signaling pathway and the VEGF-VEGFR signaling pathway play important roles in the treatment of tumors, and inhibitors targeting these two pathways can optimize therapeutic effects and expand the antitumor range. In addition, biomarkers should be developed in the future to predict efficacy, and combination with immune checkpoint inhibitors is a promising direction.

Summary: Breast cancer, the highest incidence of female malignancy, is heavily reliant on neo-vascularization for growth and metastasis, with Vascular Endothelial Growth Factor (VEGF) playing a crucial role. This review focuses on the prognostic value of VEGF in breast cancer, clinical experiences with anti-VEGF therapeutics, and biomarkers for predicting the effectiveness of anti-angiogenic treatment.

Summary: Most breast cancers in Oman are diagnosed at advanced stages, highlighting the importance of early detection. A study on a mobile mammography program by the Oman Cancer Association found low adherence but acceptable cancer detection rates, sensitivity, and specificity. Future programs should focus on improving data collection and developing screening guidelines.
