Summary: University students are more prone to weight gain compared to others. Changes in weight were found to be associated with dispositional constructs related to eating behavior such as motivation, impulsivity, social comparison, and eating styles. Different participant groups showed varying changes in key variables over time, highlighting the importance of a person-centred approach in examining those at risk of weight gain.

Summary: ADHD is a common neurodevelopmental disorder characterized by overactivity, inattention, and impulsivity. Recent studies have found that 20% of children with ADHD also develop eating disorders, such as anorexia nervosa, bulimia nervosa, and binge eating disorder. However, the association between ADHD and eating disorders during childhood and adolescence is not yet well understood.

Summary: This study found a significant association between ADHD and addictive-like eating among bariatric surgery candidates. Emotional factors and personality dimensions play important roles in this association. For individuals with ADHD and obesity, eating may be a way to cope with negative emotions, potentially increasing the risk for addictive-like eating behavior.

Summary: Previous research has found a link between impulsivity and disinhibited eating patterns, but it is unclear which specific dimension of impulsivity is most relevant. This study aimed to examine the association between impulsivity and self-reported disinhibited eating as well as actual eating behavior. The results showed significant associations between impulsivity measures and both self-report and actual eating behavior, suggesting that impulsivity plays a role in uncontrolled eating patterns.

Summary: The study revealed a positive association between food responsiveness at age 4 and hyperactivity at age 6, as well as a negative association between emotional overeating and hyperactivity. However, there was no evidence of a direct association between preschoolers' eating behaviors and BMI, or between BMI and ADHD symptoms.

Summary: An increasing number of studies have found that symptoms of attention deficit hyperactivity disorder (ADHD) are risk factors for technology addictions among young adults, particularly in terms of social media and smartphone addiction. Symptoms of inattention have a smaller impact on internet addiction. This study suggests that individuals with non-clinical, trait-level ADHD, especially those with more symptoms of inattention, are more susceptible to developing certain forms of technology addiction.

Summary: Both positive and aversive delayed consequences play a crucial role in decision making. While there is extensive research on temporal discounting of positive consequences, the study of aversive consequences is limited. This study evaluated impulsive behavior in spontaneously hypertensive rats (SHR), an animal model of ADHD, and found that choice impulsivity was similar between strains for both positive and aversive consequences. However, SHR exhibited a higher level of impulsive action compared to the control strain.

Summary: Attention Deficit Hyperactivity Disorder (ADHD) is a common neurodevelopmental disorder in childhood. Unhealthy dietary patterns are positively associated with ADHD, while healthy dietary patterns are negatively associated. Nutritional supplements and gut microbiome-targeted interventions may be effective in improving ADHD symptoms, while there is limited evidence for elimination diets and caution is advised.

Summary: The study found that hyperactive-impulsive symptoms of ADHD were independently associated with long-term externalizing outcomes, while inattentive symptoms were not. Between months 48 and 96, ADHD-HI/combined symptoms subtypes predicted later oppositional defiant disorder, conduct disorder, and substance use disorder diagnoses.

Summary: This study examines the clinical aspects of individuals with trichotillomania (TTM) and co-occurring attention deficit hyperactivity disorder (ADHD). The findings suggest that ADHD is common in adults with TTM and is associated with increased impulsivity. However, the co-occurrence of ADHD does not affect individuals' quality of life, symptom severity, or functionality.

Summary: This study examines the daily trajectories of impulsivity facets before and after drinking initiation, as well as the moderating effects of race, sex, baseline trait impulsivity, and ADHD. The results suggest that there are proximal changes in impulsivity facets prior to and after initiation of drinking, which can inform real-time interventions to decrease alcohol use.

Summary: Food addiction is a promising area of research for obesity and therapeutic approaches, but there is ongoing debate about its overlap with eating disorders and its classification as a substance- or behavior-related addiction. This study aims to understand the clinical significance of food addiction and identify possible therapeutic targets, with a focus on addictive foods combining carbohydrates and fat.

Summary: Neuroimaging has been extensively used to study brain structure and function in individuals with ADHD and ASD. However, there have been limitations in the current literature, such as small sample sizes and heterogeneous methods. To address these limitations, the ENIGMA-ADHD and ENIGMA-ASD working groups were established to collaborate on large-scale neuroimaging projects. The findings so far have shown overlap and unique differences in cortical structures between ASD and ADHD. Ongoing work is exploring other research questions.

Summary: This study introduces the first German Open Scale of Social Information Processing (GOSSIP) and evaluates its psychometric properties. GOSSIP is a model-based standardized assessment tool for assessing social information processing in boys and girls aged eight to 21 years. The results show that GOSSIP has good internal consistency and convergent validity, and can be used to classify individuals into social information processing profiles and contribute to the development of targeted interventions. The study also highlights the important role of shame in social information processing and the development of psychopathology.
