Summary: This work focuses on the synthesis, characterization, and biological profile of Mn(II)- and Zn(II)-based complexes derived from a specific ligand. The structural and electronic properties were studied, and the stability of crystal lattice structures was investigated. The complexes showed avid binding to DNA and exhibited antioxidant and antibacterial activities. Furthermore, the polymeric Zn(II) complex exhibited selective cytotoxicity against a lung cancer cell line.

Summary: The structure and rotational conformers of the rubrofusarin molecule were investigated using DFT approach. It was found that stable molecules have a group symmetry close to Cs. The rotation of the methoxy group had the smallest potential barrier. The modelling of vibrational spectra and electronic singlet transition were carried out, showing a small shift in absorption bands wavelength for the methoxy group rotation conformer and a larger shift for the tautomer.

Summary: This study compared the drying characteristics and quality attributes of okra dried using different techniques, including sun drying, an evacuated tube solar dryer with heat pipe (ETSD_HP), and an evacuated tube solar dryer without heat pipe (ETSD_WHP). The results showed that the sample pre-treated at 80 degrees C and dried in ETSD_HP had the highest moisture diffusivity. The bioactive compounds and functional properties of okra were better retained in both ETSD_HP and ETSD_WHP techniques compared to sun drying. ETSD_HP was recommended for its increased moisture diffusion and maximum retention of bioactive compounds.

Summary: The article studies the structure, optical properties and stability of Anhydrofusarubin. The computational results obtained using density functional theory are in good agreement with experimental data. The study finds the presence of slightly higher energy tautomers and two conformational enantiomer forms. The vibrational and UV-visible absorption spectra were simulated and interpreted.

Summary: Vibrational analysis is a powerful tool for unraveling differences during malignant transformation, but data interpretation can be complicated due to the large amount of information generated by all chemical bonds in the sample. In this study, attenuated total reflection Fourier-transform infrared (ATR-FTIR) spectroscopy and principal component analysis (PCA) were used to differentiate primary fibroblasts from cervical cancer cell lines. The results demonstrate the sensitivity of vibrational analysis in proposing new methods for disease detection.

Summary: This study investigates the reaction order and kinetic parameters of the reaction between crystal violet and sodium hydroxide. The overall reaction order is found to be approximately 2 based on both the pseudo rate method and the half-life method. Precipitation is observed at high concentrations of crystal violet and sodium hydroxide, with the precipitate having a molecular structure matching that of solvent violet 9.

Summary: An in-depth understanding of the bonding mechanism of botanical concrete (BC) is crucial for improving its performance and development. The study found that the alkalinity and temperature have significant effects on the bonding of BC, with alkalinity playing a more important role. Combining BC with alkaline industrial wastes or novel geopolymers can enhance its applicability.

Summary: The development of a portable and low-cost Arduino-based 2-in-1 UV-Vis spectrophotometer is described in the article. The assembled device has good sensitivity and detection limits, and performed comparably to a commercial spectrophotometer in protein and nucleic acid quantification. These findings support the assembly of portable self-assembled laboratory equipment.

Summary: FTIR-PAS was used for quick assessment of rice quality in response to rising CO2/temperature, with PCA identifying the influences of elevated CO2 and higher temperature. Intensities of selected spectral bands showed positive linear correlation with starch, protein, and lipid content, demonstrating the potential of FTIR-PAS to detect rice responses to climate change.

Summary: Fourier transform infrared (FTIR) spectroscopy is a vibration spectroscopy that uses infrared radiation to absorb the molecular bonds in its absorbed sample. The study aimed to evaluate FTIR spectroscopy as a diagnostic tool for lymph node metastasis (LNM) of gastric cancer. Spectral analysis was conducted on 160 fresh lymph nodes from patients with gastric cancer using FTIR. The results showed that FTIR spectroscopy has high sensitivity and specificity in diagnosing LNM, making it a potential non-invasive method for clinical practice.

Summary: In this study, a tissue diagnostic technique was developed using multispectral imaging in the visible spectrum combined with principal component analysis (PCA). The propagation of light through paraffin-embedded tissues was used to assess differences in eye tissues of control mouse embryos and embryos with maternal folic acid deficiency. The results showed vascular alterations in vitreous and choroid as well as texture alterations in lens and retina.

Summary: It is of great importance to understand the speciation and solubilization of the weakly basic antibiotic and anti-inflammatory drug, clofazimine (CFZ), as a function of pH. In this study, the ionization constant and pKa value of CFZ were determined using potentiometric and spectrophotometric methods. Additionally, density functional theory calculations confirmed the possibility of CFZ dimer formation in aqueous and methanol media.

Summary: This paper presents a methodology to assess the influence of the correlation-covariance structure of measurement errors in online monitoring over the propagation of uncertainties. The study analyzed the effect of auto-correlated and heteroskedastic errors on the estimated probability density function of different environmental indicators. Results showed that the temporal delimitation of hydrographs/pollutographs and the intensity of the autocorrelation have the strongest influence in the propagation of measurement errors.

Summary: This paper explores and compares different deterioration models based on statistical and machine learning approaches, considering two scenarios involving only age or age with other sewer characteristics. The results show that logistic regression models perform better for network management objectives under Scenario 1, while random forest models are more successful in predicting critical conditions at the sewer level under Scenario 2.
