Summary: A composite dressing composed of Rhizochitosan and RegenplexTM was evaluated for promoting wound healing. The composite dressing showed better healing effects than individual components and control group, with possible mechanisms involving modulation of MMP-9 and MMP-2 expression levels to facilitate wound remodeling.

Summary: This exploratory study aimed to investigate the association between biomarkers in wound fluid and the healing of split-thickness skin grafts in venous leg ulcers. The study found that the concentration of matrix metalloproteinase-9 in wound fluid was higher in venous leg ulcers showing good healing compared to those with poor healing.

Summary: Injuries to the skin initiate a series of synchronized healing processes. Fibroblasts play various roles in endogenous wound repair, including activating innate immune cells, depositing scar tissue, and transporting fascial connective tissue to the wounds. Understanding the diversity and versatility of fibroblasts is crucial for deciphering wound pathologies and developing new treatment approaches.

Summary: This systematic review investigated the association between cytokine levels and the healing of venous leg ulcers (VLUs). The findings suggest that non-healing VLUs may be associated with elevated pro-inflammatory cytokine levels, which decline with healing. TGF-beta 1 levels tended to increase with VLU healing. Further research is needed to explore other cytokines.

Summary: In recent years, the healing of chronic wounds has become a challenging problem in clinical practice. This study aimed to address the challenges in wound care by designing a dual-network hydrogel composed of sodium alginate and platelet-rich plasma. The hydrogel showed a three-dimensional network structure and exhibited the potential for cell proliferation and vascular regeneration. When applied to wound skin in rats, the hydrogel effectively promoted wound closure. Overall, this strategy offers a simple and feasible approach for overcoming the shortcomings of conventional wound dressings.

Summary: The study demonstrates the significant promise of trichocyte keratins in promoting wound healing, with distinct behaviors and advantages observed among different types. Transcriptomic analysis reveals the regulatory mechanisms of keratins in cell proliferation, migration, and blood vessel generation. These findings can contribute to the development and precision application of keratins.

Summary: CSO@PM is a novel antibacterial platform composed of a mesoporous copper silicate microsphere core and a platelet membrane shell. It exhibits highly effective bactericidal activity through targeted bacteria and photothermal therapy, while also adsorbing toxins secreted by bacteria to reduce inflammation and promote wound healing. Furthermore, CSO@PM shows no toxicity in vitro and in vivo.

Summary: A meta-analysis was conducted to evaluate the effect of platelet-rich plasma (PRP) on sternal wound healing (SWH) in cardiac surgery (CS) patients. A total of 1098 relevant studies were reviewed, and 11 studies were included in the analysis, involving 8961 CS patients. The results showed that PRP significantly reduced the incidence of sternal wound infection (SWI), including deep and superficial SWI, compared to the control group. However, caution is needed due to the low sample size of some studies included in the meta-analysis.

Summary: In this research, a novel bionic hydrogel was developed by crosslinking natural platelet and alginate through covalent amidation for wound healing. The platelet-derived hydrogel exhibited excellent biocompatibility and blood compatibility, and could be customized for different wound environments. Silver nanoparticles could also be loaded into the hydrogel, providing superior anti-infective properties. The bio-inspired platelet hydrogel showed potential values in clinical applications by promoting hemostasis, preventing bacterial proliferation, and facilitating tissue healing.
