Summary: The study aimed to develop and evaluate the Pediatric Narcolepsy Severity Scale (P-NSS) for children with narcolepsy type 1 (NT1). An item pool was created based on literature review, expert panel judgment, and input from narcoleptic patients and their parents. Psychometric properties were assessed in a sample of 200 narcolepsy patients (8-18 years old). The P-NSS demonstrated good reliability and validity and may serve as a valuable outcome measure in narcolepsy trials and clinical settings in China.

Summary: This study investigated cross-reactivity and co-allergy to other plant foods among adult patients with IgE-mediated banana allergy in Thailand. The most commonly associated plant foods with clinical reactions were kiwi, avocado, persimmon, grapes, and durian. A significant proportion of reported reactions to other plant foods were classified as severe.

Summary: The aim of this study is to evaluate the validity of the Paediatric Canadian Triage and Acuity Scale (PaedCTAS) in a Portuguese tertiary hospital. The study considers all visits to the hospital's Pediatric Emergency Department (PED) between 2014 and 2019, and examines the performance and appropriateness of different surrogate severity markers to validate triage. The results show a strong association between triage levels and surrogate markers of severity, indicating that PaedCTAS is highly valid.

Summary: Cats have personalities with stable behavior differences, and it is important to identify their personality types. Research has shown that owner-completed questionnaires are valid sources of behavior data and breed differences may suggest a genetic background for personality traits. Further studies are needed to examine breed differences with more complex models.

Summary: The study found high agreement between the Atroshi-Lyren 6-item symptoms scale and the Boston 11-item symptom severity scale in patients with carpal tunnel syndrome, however they are not equivalent in measuring symptom severity. When using item response theory-based scoring, the Atroshi-Lyren scale demonstrated significantly higher responsiveness.

Summary: This study examined the reliability and validity of the Teachers' Sense of Efficacy Scale (TSES) adapted into Spanish in a sample of 190 primary and secondary Mexican teachers. The results confirmed the three-factor-correlated structure of the scale and established criterion validity evidence between self-efficacy and job satisfaction. Limitations were discussed and future research directions recommended.

Summary: The study found that IgE sensitization to house dust mites is geographically widespread in dogs with atopic dermatitis, with Der f 2 and Zen 1 being major allergens for dogs in almost all evaluated countries. The differences in IgE sensitization rates were minimal across countries, with the highest correlation observed between Df and Zen 1.

Summary: In this study, challenging atopic dogs with allergens resulted in a transient decrease in skin surface NMF and its components, which was negatively correlated with skin lesion scores. This suggests that skin barrier anomalies in atopic dogs may develop secondarily to cutaneous allergic inflammation.

Summary: This study measured the skin color of 101 healthy dogs using a calibrated optical system and compared the results to human skin color. The results showed that the lightness of canine skin was similar to human skin, but there was a significant difference in skin yellowness. This difference may be attributed to canids' inability to accumulate yellow carotenoids.

Summary: This study identified seven major chicken allergens for dogs, some of which show cross-reactivity with human allergens. The identified allergens have the potential to be cross-reactive between poultry and mammalian meats, and some are already known to be cross-reactive between chicken and fish species. Future studies should further investigate the clinical relevance and cross-reactivity potential of these chicken allergens in dogs.

Summary: This study aimed to determine whether a 4-day course of prednisolone reduces the probability of pruritus rebound after reducing the frequency of oclacitinib administration. The results showed that concurrent administration of prednisolone significantly decreased the rate of pruritus rebound and improved skin lesion improvement and treatment efficacy.

Summary: This study reports on 17 cases of hyperkeratotic erythema multiforme (HKEM) in dogs, including their signalment, clinical signs, treatment outcome, and histopathological and immunological findings. It is found that HKEM is a chronic, persistent and clinically distinctive variant of erythema multiforme (EM) in dogs, which differs from the classic vesiculobullous erosive-to-ulcerative EM.

Summary: Autoimmune subepidermal blistering diseases (AISBDs) are rare skin disorders in animals, with similar pathomechanisms to human diseases. Diagnosis is made by combining clinical features and histological evidence, although specialized immunological testing is often unavailable. Canine AISBDs are well-characterized, while other species have rarer variants. Despite limited diagnostic confirmation, treatment approaches are similar in dogs.

Summary: The caninised monoclonal antibody, lokivetmab (LKV), effectively controls pruritus in most dogs with atopic dermatitis (AD). However, evidence suggests that IL-31, the target of LKV, is not necessary for the induction of acute allergic skin inflammation, explaining why the treatment is less effective in some dogs. This study compared the transcriptome analysis of HDM-sensitised dogs with and without LKV treatment and found that IL-31 inhibition does not significantly affect cytokine production.

Summary: This study describes the histopathological findings of trunk-dominant PF in dogs and compares it with classic facial and insecticide-triggered PF. The results show that trunk-dominant PF is histologically similar to other PF variants, indicating shared pathomechanisms. It is also found that diagnostic biopsies cannot differentiate between these PF variants in dogs.
