Summary: Cryotropic gelation is a common method to design novel hydrogels with multifaceted functionalities. This study focused on the formation of physically crosslinked hydrogels using highly galactosyl-substituted galactomannans like fenugreek and alfalfa gum via cryogenic processing. Results showed that alfalfa gum-based cryogels had higher elasticity and stiffness compared to fenugreek counterparts, and blending with locust bean gum enhanced the mechanical properties without altering microstructural aspects significantly.

Summary: This study investigated the effects of maternal exposure to BPA on the expression of CYP450s in fetal brain. The results showed that BPA significantly decreased the expression of CYP1B1 at GD14 and CYP19A1 at mid- and late-stage development. Nicotine also decreased the expression levels of all examined protein targets, and this suppressive effect was attenuated when combined with BPA.

Summary: This study aimed to investigate the effect of Mg doping on the characteristics and antibacterial properties of CuO nanoparticles (NPs). Mg-doped CuO NPs were fabricated by co-precipitation, and characterization techniques including XRD, TEM, EDX, FTIR, and PL were used. The results showed that Mg doping affected the morphology and agglomeration of the NPs, and induced shifts in the Cu-O bond. The undoped and Mg-doped CuO NPs exhibited significant antibacterial capacities against both Gram-positive and Gram-negative bacteria, highlighting their potential as antibacterial agents.

Summary: This study investigated the molecular mechanisms of angiopoietin-like 4 (ANGPTL4) in the growth and dissemination of head and neck squamous cell carcinoma (HNSCC). It was found that ANGPTL4 was upregulated in premalignant cells and HNSCC cell lines, as well as tissue samples from patients with oral dysplasia and HNSCC. Furthermore, ANGPTL4 was found to promote tumor cell migration through its binding to neuropilin1 (NRP1) and subsequent phosphorylation of focal adhesion protein, paxillin (PXN), in a pathway dependent on ABL1 tyrosine kinase. Inhibition of ABL1 or NRP1 expression blocked this pathway and inhibited tumor cell migration.
