The various distortions associated with the energy-loss magnetic chiral dichroism (EMCD) technique are important as these distortions can modify the dichroic signal and even supress it. The usefulness of measurement and correction procedures will first be demonstrated on a calculated datacube before applying to the experimental datacube of an iron sample. The application of the EMCD sum rules will give quantitative information on the magnetic moments in the film at a local scale. (C) 2010 Elsevier By. All rights reserved.
