Summary: This study compared the PFS and OS of patients with GEP-NETs treated with somatuline or octreotide LAR. The results showed no difference in PFS between the two treatments for patients with well-differentiated, metastatic GEP-NETs.

Summary: Combined liver-intestinal transplantation and MvTx are effective treatment options for NET patients, achieving a patient survival rate of 51.2% and a recurrence rate of 35%, similar to liver transplantation for NET. The radical resection and MvTx may benefit NET patients with diffuse abdominal presentation, although further studies are needed to optimize post-transplant management.

Summary: Endometrial stromal tumors (EST) are rare malignancies primarily affecting peri- or postmenopausal women. LG-ESS typically expresses estrogen and progesterone receptors, while HG-ESS and UUS lack specific genetic abnormalities. Total hysterectomy with bilateral salpingo-oophorectomy is the first-line treatment for early-stage LG-ESS, while for early-stage HG-ESS and UUS, it is standard to perform total hysterectomy with bilateral salpingo-oophorectomy. LG-ESS has a relatively favorable prognosis with a 5-year overall survival rate of 80-100%, while HG-ESS and UUS have poorer outcomes.

Summary: The utility of genetic awareness in hereditary endocrine tumors lies in early treatment, screening for other manifestations, and family cascade testing initiation. This review highlights common hereditary syndromes associated with endocrine tumors, emphasizing screening and surveillance. Medical practitioners should be alert to the possibility of underlying hereditary syndromes, with interdisciplinary care being crucial for successful long-term management of patients and affected family members.

Summary: Non-endocrine findings in MEN1 syndrome include skin lesions, particularly tumor-type lesions. This narrative review summarizes the clinical presentation of cutaneous tumors and other dermatological issues in patients with MEN1, and also discusses the association between MEN1 gene and melanomas.

Summary: Neoadjuvant endocrine treatment (NET) shows satisfactory efficacy in breast cancer patients who are hormone receptor-positive (HR+)/HER2-negative, achieving high rates of breast conservative surgery and converting inoperable patients to operable status with less toxicity compared to neoadjuvant chemotherapy (NACT). However, challenges such as heterogeneous patient response and the duration needed for a clinical response limit the widespread use of NET. Recent advancements in biomarker research, including the PEPI score, Ki67, and genomic assays, have increased interest in NET. This review aims to provide an overview of the current state and future perspectives of NET, as well as the potential integration of molecular biomarkers for patient selection and treatment duration.

Summary: Cyclin-dependent kinase (CDK) 4/6 inhibitors have revolutionized the treatment landscape of hormone receptor-positive breast cancers. However, a significant portion of patients develop resistance to these inhibitors, making it challenging for clinicians to choose the next treatment option. Recent studies have used transcriptomic analysis to identify biomarkers that could potentially guide the selection of subsequent therapies.

Summary: Electrochemotherapy is a local ablative therapy that enhances the cytotoxicity of bleomycin or cisplatin by applying electric pulses to tumors. It has shown promising results in treating various cutaneous tumors and has recently been introduced for primary liver tumors, such as HCC. Electrochemotherapy can elicit a local immune response and has the potential to become a preferred treatment for HCC.

Summary: Surgical resection is the preferred treatment for resectable liver metastases with the highest survival rate, while liver transplantation shows good results for patients ineligible for surgery. Loco-regional therapies may be beneficial when surgery is not an option, or can be used as a bridge to surgery or transplantation. Systemic therapies are recommended for patients who cannot undergo curative treatment.

Summary: Transplant oncology is a new field that uses solid organ transplantation, especially liver transplantation, to improve the prognosis and quality of life for cancer patients. Liver transplantation can be a competitive chance for cure for patients with unresectable, liver-only metastases from neuroendocrine tumors (NETs) of the digestive tract. Accurate patient selection is crucial due to limited organ donation resources.

Summary: This study assessed the application of multiple 4D-MRI binning algorithms for visualizing liver tumor motion. The two-directional binning algorithm showed equal or better image quality compared to phase binning, and it captured a larger range of hysteresis compared to amplitude binning. Additionally, the study found that the coverage of radiation plans using MR-derived targets was significantly lower than plans using CT-derived targets.

Summary: The study revealed distinct germline mutation rates between MEN1-related and sporadic PanNETs, with a higher MEN1 mutation rate in MEN1-related PanNETs and a low overall germline mutation rate in sporadic PanNETs. Additionally, a previously unreported germline variant in the DAXX gene was found in one non-functional PanNET patient, suggesting a convergence tendency between germline and somatic mutation genes.
