Summary: The study assesses the impact of personal information request sources on individuals' willingness to disclose health information. It reveals that university hospitals prioritize altruism and are more appealing to individuals, while pharmaceutical companies prioritize egoism and individuals tend to conceal information. The appeal of the information and the credibility of the endorsers influence individuals' willingness to disclose personal information.

Summary: Understanding the impact of algorithms on users' online experiences is crucial for developing effective algorithm designs. This study examines the role of users' awareness of algorithms on the privacy calculus process and investigates how users' self-efficacy affects their privacy concerns. The findings indicate that users' awareness of algorithms influences their trust in algorithmic processes and their evaluation of privacy concerns.

Summary: This study examines the relationship between team-level human resource attributions (HRAs) and team performance, with a focus on how transformational leadership moderates this relationship. The results show that commitment-focused team-level HRAs impact team performance through team engagement, and that self-awareness of transformational leadership strengthens this positive relationship. However, no similar moderated mediation relationships were found between control-focused team-level HRAs and team performance.

Summary: This study investigated impaired self-awareness of cognitive deficits in Parkinson's disease (PD) and its associations with clinical-behavioral and neuroimaging markers. The results showed that PD patients with mild cognitive impairment (PD-MCI) had significantly higher impaired self-awareness than healthy controls and PD patients without MCI. Neuroimaging analysis revealed that glucose metabolism in the cingulate cortex was negatively correlated with impaired self-awareness. In PD-MCI patients, impaired self-awareness was associated with decreased metabolism in the right temporal lobe, insula, and midcingulate cortex. These findings suggest that impaired self-awareness of cognitive deficits in PD may be related to disruptions in the cognitive network and metabolic changes in specific brain regions.

Summary: This study utilized a novel attentional blink paradigm and assessed awareness trial by trial. The results challenge the existing neural correlate of consciousness (NCC) theory by showing the absence of an enhanced late P3b component despite the presence of early visual awareness negativity (VAN).

Summary: Factors such as personal motivations, trust in providers, and financial concerns impact how individuals report pain. People may overstate pain to receive better medical responses, but some choose not to exaggerate their pain. Biases in perception of one's own and others' pain may lead to distortion in pain reporting.

Summary: The study focused on the relationship between curiosity and adoption of novel technologies by older adults, exploring age differences in curiosity and the moderating role of personal relevance. Findings indicated that while trait curiosity declined with age, older adults exhibited higher state curiosity towards robots when they perceived an increase in personal relevance. This highlights the potential of personal relevance in enhancing curiosity among older adults.

Summary: This study found that impaired self-awareness in children and adolescents with traumatic brain injury is associated with factors such as age at injury, severity of injury, and family dysfunction. Poor self-awareness is closely related to parent-rated child adaptive functioning, emotional, and behavioral problems, but also related to children's self-concept and mood symptoms.

Summary: The decreased functionality and expression of HpHbR in Trypanosoma brucei gambiense is a key evolutionary modification that allows this parasite to infect humans. This study reveals that hemoglobin uptake in African trypanosomes is almost exclusively mediated by HpHbR and crucial for their development. Understanding this molecular mechanism is important for our knowledge of how the parasite infects humans and for the development of potential treatments.

Summary: The study examined the impact of four personal protective factors on positive adaptation in individuals with traumatic brain injury. The results showed that higher levels of self-efficacy and emotional functioning were related to better quality of life, while poorer cognitive functioning and lower self-awareness were also related to better quality of life. Cognitive and emotional functioning were significant predictors of quality of life.

Summary: Sense of agency refers to the experience of controlling one's actions. This preliminary study suggests that post-stroke sensorimotor deficits can impair the relationship between prediction error and self-other attribution, supporting the hypothesis that patients with such deficits can have altered strategies for the registration of agency.

Summary: The use of cocaine without heroin declined overall from 2002 to 2017, but showed an increasing trend from 2011. In contrast, the co-use of heroin and cocaine, as well as heroin use without cocaine, showed a linear increase during the same period. It is important for screening, outreach, clinical treatment, and first responders to be aware of the increasing trends in polysubstance use and the potential impact of co-use of heroin and cocaine on intervention and overdose outcomes in the US.
