Summary: This study introduces a new method for dynamically updating traffic noise maps in large regions based on noise monitoring and traffic speed data. The method includes updating noise source intensity of the whole road network using a model of noise level and traffic speed, as well as generating new noise maps by combining acoustic attenuation terms with the updated noise source intensity, resulting in higher accuracy compared to other methods.

Summary: This study analyzes the interior acoustic noise inside vehicles under different conditions and compares the measured power levels using two different noise models. The results demonstrate that noise levels are higher when traffic conditions are good and the interior noise exhibits significant impulsiveness. Furthermore, the study suggests that noise sources related to the vehicle itself and its movement are the most relevant factors in the composition of interior acoustic noise.

Summary: This study utilized machine learning and statistical regression methods, combined with geographical information systems, to estimate the equivalent continuous sound pressure level during peak daily periods along the New Klang Valley Expressway in Shah Alam, Malaysia. The results highlighted the superior performance of the machine learning (random forest) models compared to the statistical regression-based models.

Summary: A new approach using SPSS and MATLAB analysis was used to study urban road traffic noise distribution mapping in this study, in order to obtain representative noise maps. The study was conducted on a high traffic highway, where factors such as traffic volume, road width, slope, and land use were surveyed and recorded for each point, and their local and time dependencies were calculated. The analysis showed that the relationship between traffic volume and noise level had a maximum goodness of fit index of 0.64, followed by 0.489 for the percentage of residential land use. The study found that vehicle speed, road width, and land use can impact the sound levels emitted by moving vehicles on the road, with the model predicting a 0.002 dB increase in noise level for every additional vehicle per hour.

Summary: The construction of noise maps is crucial for urban noise management and residents' health protection. This paper proposes an efficient calculation method for large-area dynamic traffic noise maps based on a hybrid modeling approach, combining traditional noise emission modeling and multivariate nonlinear regression modeling. This method improves computational efficiency and provides technical support for constructing dynamic noise maps in large urban regions.

Summary: Due to rapid urbanization and exponential growth in transportation, traffic noise has become a major concern as it not only disrupts daily life but also has severe adverse health effects on humans and can even lead to mortality. This paper focuses on analyzing the noise levels in Lucknow city over a decade and establishes its correlation with the impact on human health in terms of annoyance and sleep disturbance. The study reveals that the noise levels exceed prescribed standards in most locations during both day and night time, with Charbagh being the worst affected by noise pollution. The increase in noise levels over time has resulted in a higher percentage of residents experiencing sleep disturbance and annoyance.

Summary: This intervention study focused on using a mobile measurement procedure to analyze the noise mitigation effectiveness of a complex shaped berm near a highway. The results showed that environmental noise exposure and mitigation measures are highly dependent on spatial factors, and practical constraints during implementation can greatly impact final efficiency. Maps based on mobile measurements were found to be useful for spatial planners in indicating the consequences of deviating from acoustically optimized plans.

Summary: Modeling non-electrical processes using equivalent electrical circuits is a well-known and successful technique in research and development. Although finite element methods have become more popular in recent years due to their accuracy and intuitiveness, analogies still have advantages in certain cases. Using lumped circuits and graphs allows researchers to view the system from a different perspective, solve non-electrical systems using standardized electrical circuit methods, and take advantage of the capabilities of electrical circuit simulators.

Summary: The study in Stockholm, Sweden identified common socio-economic, land use, and neighborhood characteristics in areas where motor vehicle crashes and crimes occur. These events tended to concentrate in small hot spots, with specific patterns related to roadway traffic volume, lower income neighborhoods, and certain common land uses like underground stations, ATMs, and alcohol-serving establishments. The impact of these events on emergency services and the police was also discussed.
