Summary: The study compared the minor and major intra- and postoperative complications of living donor robotic assisted kidney transplantation in obese, overweight, and non-overweight recipients. The results showed that there were no major intra-operative complications in any study group, and rates of postoperative complications and delayed graft function were similar among the three groups. The number of arteries was identified as an independent predictive factor of suboptimal renal function at post-operative day 30 in the multivariate analysis.

Summary: Elderly and comorbid kidney transplant patients with COVID-19 are at high risk for severe symptoms, with acute kidney injury and age being the most important factors influencing mortality. Adjustments in steroid dosage and calcineurin inhibitors play a significant role in treatment outcomes.

Summary: This study examines the hospital admissions in the first 12 months after paediatric kidney transplantation due to graft dysfunction associated with dehydration. The results show that 42% of children had at least one dehydration admission in the first year after transplantation. The identified risk factors for dehydration admissions emphasize the need for further research on optimal fluid intake and hydration advice for children and teenagers following kidney transplantation.

The results showed similar patient and graft survival rates between the two groups, indicating that spousal donor kidney transplantation can be considered an acceptable alternative to donor supply despite potential tissue compatibility issues.

Summary: The study found that in a transplant center in Germany, medical reasons are the main cause for potential living kidney donors to be disqualified, with potentially severe consequences for potential recipients. However, only a small number of disqualified end-stage kidney disease patients subsequently received kidney transplants, leaving others at higher risk of death.

Summary: The study found that early dismissal (<=2 days) after kidney transplantation does not lead to increased healthcare utilization or harm transplant and patient survival outcomes. There were no significant differences in readmissions or emergency room visits at 30 or 90 days post-transplant, glomerular filtration rate at 12 months, or rates of biopsy-proven acute rejection between groups with different lengths of stay.

Summary: This study proposes a machine learning framework to predict graft survival after five years of kidney transplantation and determines the most influential parameters. The XGBoost algorithm was found to be the best model with high AUC and sensitivity. The framework can serve as a decision support system for Nephrologists to provide safer treatment recommendations and achieve positive kidney transplant outcomes.

Summary: In this study, the authors shared their experience with catheter-related infections (CRI) in chronic hemodialysis (HD) patients and recorded the incidence, symptoms, complications, and mortality of CRI. The results showed that CRI was common in HD patients, with fever and chills being the main symptoms accompanied by inflammatory signs. The duration of catheter use and ferritin level were identified as independent factors predisposing to CRI in this population.

Summary: This study retrospectively evaluated the epidemiological, clinical, and histopathological features of ANCA-associated glomerulonephritis (GN) and investigated factors associated with end-stage renal disease (ESRD). The results showed that age, sex, and clinical symptoms were associated with the disease. Histopathological classification and renal risk score were associated with the occurrence of ESRD. Overall survival rate improved, but the risk of relapse remained high.
