Summary: In this study, coronary computed tomography angiography (CCTA) was successfully implemented for the detection of cardiac allograft vasculopathy (CAV) in heart transplant patients. The CCTA showed good image quality and low radiation dose, with limited need for additional invasive testing. This suggests that CCTA is a feasible and effective method for routine assessment of CAV in heart transplant patients.

Summary: This study aimed to determine predictors of early coronary artery disease (CAD) after heart transplantation. Heart transplant recipients were evaluated for one year for coronary anatomic-physiologic changes and the related predictors. The study found that fibrotic plaque on optical coherence tomography and index of microcirculatory resistance could predict CAD progression early posttransplant.

Summary: This study found that the volume of epicardial fat (EFV) is associated with the development of cardiac allograft vasculopathy (CAV) in heart transplant patients, and the recipient sex has a greater influence on EFV than the donor sex.

Summary: By analyzing clinical data and CCTA images of 400 patients, it was found that FAI and NCPB were independent risk factors for coronary plaque progression. Combining conventional parameters with radiomics features derived from CCTA can better predict plaque progression.

Summary: This study retrospectively assessed the association between the appropriateness of post-CCTA management according to CAD-RADS 2.0 and clinical outcomes. The results showed that appropriate management was associated with a lower risk of major adverse cardiovascular events and a more prudent use of invasive coronary angiography.

Summary: In cardiac transplant patients, the fat attenuation index (FAI) in coronary CT angiography (CCTA) may predict outcomes, but its use has not been evaluated in these patients.

Summary: This study compared the development of intimal hyperplasia in pediatric and adult heart transplant patients using optical coherence tomography (OCT), showing a higher I/M ratio in children and higher absolute intima thickness in adults. Age and time seem to have an impact on the prevalence of intimal hyperplasia in intracoronary imaging.

Summary: The impact of long-term endurance sport participation on coronary atherosclerosis and acute cardiac events remains controversial. A study found that lifelong endurance athletes had a higher prevalence of coronary plaques compared to healthy individuals. Further research is needed to understand the risk of cardiovascular events in high-intensity endurance exercise.

Summary: This study investigated the prognostic value of coronary CT angiography (CCTA) in heart failure patients with preserved ejection fraction (HFpEF). The results showed a higher prevalence of coronary atherosclerosis in the HFpEF group compared to the non-HFpEF group. During the follow-up period, participants with HFpEF exhibited a higher risk of major adverse cardiovascular events (MACEs) in different CAD-RADS categories. CAD-RADS = 1-2 increased the risk of nonfatal myocardial infarction, while CAD-RADS ≥ 3 were associated with cardiovascular mortality and hospitalization due to heart failure.

Summary: The study revealed the significant role of IL-33/ST2 signaling in cardiac allograft vasculopathy, with opposite effects observed when either allografts or recipients had ST2 deficiency. The differential impact on immune cell infiltration by ST2 deficiency suggests a potential for different outcomes in post-heart transplant intervention.

Summary: The anomalous connection of the inferior caval vein to the left atrium is extremely rare and has been considered impossible by some authors. This study demonstrates the existence of this rare malformation for the first time, diagnosed prenatally and confirmed post-mortem in a 24-week gestational age fetus, in association with a common arterial trunk.
