Ultra-low-dose computed tomography and its utility in wrist trauma in the emergency department

Erdal Tekin, Kutsi Tuncer, Ibrahim Ozlu, Recep Sade, Rustem Berhan Pirimoglu, Gokhan Polat

Summary: The study demonstrates that ultra-low-dose CT (ULDCT) provides high-quality images for suspected wrist fractures in the emergency department, reducing radiation dose by approximately 98% compared to standard-dose CT (SDCT) without impacting diagnostic accuracy.

Tracheomalacia Secondary to Intubation

Veysel Ayyildiz, Yener Aydin, Hayri Ogul

Summary: Tracheomalacia is a condition that is usually congenital in children but can also be acquired in rare cases in adults. Patients typically experience symptoms such as shortness of breath, chronic cough, and recurrent respiratory tract infections. Diagnosis is often incidentally made through thoracic imaging. This study presents a case of a 70-year-old female patient who developed tracheomalacia after tracheal intubation.

Sonographic findings of COVID-19 related acute scrotal infection and associations with clinical-laboratory data

Sonay Aydin, Oguzhan Tokur, Omer Kazci, Bunyamin Ece, Erdal Karavas, Mecit Kantarci

Summary: This research examines the association between COVID-19 infection and scrotal infection, finding that acute orchitis is more common in patients with higher clinical severity. Ultrasonography can help detect acute scrotal infection even in asymptomatic patients, particularly in those with more severe clinical presentations.

Evaluation of anterior and middle cranial fossa intraosseous arachnoid granulations with 3D T2-SPACE sequence

Elif Gozgec, Hayri Ogul, Hasan Durmus

Summary: Intraosseous arachnoid granulations (AGs) can be evaluated in detail with T2-SPACE imaging, which is superior to CT and conventional sequences. Determining the presence of intraosseous AGs is important for diagnosing idiopathic intracranial hypertension (IIH) and understanding their content.

Incidental findings on prostate MRI: a close look at the field of view in this anatomical region

Volkan Kizilgoz, Mecit Kantarci, Gokhan Tonkaz, Akin Levent, Hayri Ogul

Summary: MRI is widely used for detecting prostate cancer and guiding biopsy procedures. It can also detect incidental lesions, which can provide important information for diagnosis and early treatment. Awareness of congenital anomalies is crucial for radiologists.

An Unusual Cause of Hearing Loss: Incudal Osteoma

Elif Gozgec, Hayri Ogul, Muhammed S. Sakat

Summary: Osteomas in the middle ear cavity and incus are extremely rare, but common in the temporal bone. Computed tomography plays a crucial role in diagnosing this slowly growing benign bone tumor. Treatment options include follow-up and surgery based on the patient's condition.

Case Report of a Patient With Posttraumatic Perilymphatic Fistula

Ali Koksal, Veysel Ayyildiz, Hayri Ogul, Mecit Kantarci

Summary: Perilymphatic fistula refers to the extravasation of perilymph fluid into the middle ear cavity. Cross-sectional imaging techniques play a crucial role in evaluating inner and middle ear structures and temporal bone. Thin section CT scans can effectively show pneumolabyrinth and temporal bone fractures, while high-resolution 3D volumetric MRI sequences can help demonstrate posttraumatic ear effusion and cerebrospinal fluid fistula in the inner or middle ear.

Membranous Nasopharyngeal Stenosis: Case Report

Derya Guclu, Elif N. N. Unlu, Hayri Ogul

Summary: Nasopharyngeal stenosis is a rare condition that often develops as a result of nasopharyngeal or oropharyngeal surgery and radiotherapy. It can lead to obstructive symptoms and is usually diagnosed using nasopharyngoscopy. Treatment is challenging and involves various surgical techniques, such as balloon dilation. Even after successful surgery, recurrence is very common.
