Summary: This study systematically reviewed the prevalence of comorbid obstructive sleep apnea (OSA) in diffuse parenchymal lung diseases (DPLDs) and its impact on clinical and outcome measurements. It found that OSA is a common comorbidity in DPLD patients, affecting approximately three in four patients, which may exacerbate nocturnal desaturation and have negative influence on outcomes. Larger studies with more homogeneous samples are warranted for further investigation.

Summary: The study found that a considerable number of meningioma patients newly diagnosed and ready for surgery in China suffer from sleep disturbance, potentially affecting their quality of life. Fatigue and headache are independent factors associated with sleep disturbance in meningioma patients.

Summary: The prevalence of sleep disorders in China was investigated through a large sample study, and the social determinants affecting residents' sleep status were explored at individual and provincial levels. A nationwide web-based survey was conducted, and the Pittsburgh Sleep Quality Index was used to evaluate residents' sleep quality. The results showed that sleep disorders are prevalent in the Chinese population, with varying incidence rates across provinces. To improve sleep quality, the Chinese government should pay more attention to vulnerable groups and promote healthy lifestyles through education, utilize social networks for social support, and improve the ecological and daily living environment.

Summary: The study found that Parkinson's disease patients commonly experience off-states in the morning, which may impact their quality of life, with severity worsening as the disease progresses. Additionally, nocturnal sleep problems may partially mediate the relationship between morning off-states and quality of life.

Summary: In patients with obstructive sleep apnea, oxygen desaturation events are associated with higher systolic blood pressure values and variability compared to non-hypoxia periods. The amplitude and duration of these events may play a role in nocturnal blood pressure fluctuations in OSA patients.

Summary: This review critically discusses the mechanisms by which sleep influences ventilatory neural drive and mechanical consequences in healthy subjects and hypercapnic patients with advanced COPD. It highlights the importance of investigating sleep's impact on breathing for the use of nocturnal noninvasive positive-pressure ventilation.

Summary: Non-invasive ventilation therapy does not decrease sleep quality in COPD patients and can even improve health-related quality of life, decrease daytime sleepiness and respiratory disturbance index (RDI), especially in patients with comorbid obstructive sleep apnea syndrome (OSAS).

Summary: This study found associations between nocturnal behaviors and sleep quality in pregnant women. Nocturnal eating and artificial light exposure at night were associated with poor sleep quality, while nocturnal physical activity and screen viewing before bedtime were not related to sleep quality.

Summary: In this study, it was found that nocturnal desaturation is common among patients with COPD and can be classified into 3 waveform patterns. The intermittent pattern was associated with the apnoea-hypopnea index, while the sustained pattern was associated with the cumulative percentage of time with SpO(2) below 90%.

Summary: Digital sensing solutions are increasingly used for assessing symptoms of health conditions, such as scratching during sleep in patients with skin conditions. However, lack of standardization in measurement definitions and contextualization of scratching during sleep hinders comparison of technologies. This study aims to address this gap and provide unified measurement definitions for nocturnal scratch.

Summary: In this study, the long-term impact of long COVID after 24 months of acute infection was investigated. The results showed that 71.2% of the participants experienced symptoms of long COVID, with fatigue, amnesia, concentration difficulties, insomnia, and depression being the most frequently reported symptoms. The study also found no significant effect of COVID-19 vaccination or the number of vaccinations received on the incidence of long COVID. Although the neuropsychiatric quality of life improved over time, it still affected 32.7% of the participants.

Summary: The study shows that sputum procalcitonin levels are significantly higher in patients with stable bronchiectasis compared to healthy controls, with higher levels in spontaneously expectorated sputum than induced sputum. Repeat measurements indicate that procalcitonin levels remain relatively stable one week later.
