Summary: This study evaluated the accuracy of newer online intraocular lens (IOL) formulas in extremely elongated eyes. The EVO 2.0 and K6 formulas were recommended for IOL power calculation in extreme myopia cases. Caution should be taken when using modern artificial intelligence-based formulas for eyes with axial length longer than 32 mm or meniscus IOLs.

Summary: This study identified EFEMP1 as a potential novel biomarker for choroidal neovascularization in age-related macular degeneration (AMD), particularly in wet AMD patients. The overexpression of EFEMP1 was associated with increased angiogenesis, while knockdown of EFEMP1 led to decreased tube formation and proliferation in endothelial cells. These findings suggest that EFEMP1 could be a promising target for the development of pharmaceuticals and diagnostics for wet AMD.

Summary: This study aims to evaluate the efficacy and safety of diazepam for intraoperative blood pressure (BP) stabilisation in hypertensive patients undergoing vitrectomy with retrobulbar anaesthesia. The trial will compare the effectiveness of diazepam and placebo in controlling systolic BP during surgery, as well as assess the occurrence of adverse reactions post-surgery. The results of this trial will provide important insights into the use of diazepam in maintaining BP stability during vitrectomy in patients with a history of hypertension.

Summary: This study investigated the relationship between serum metabolome and treatment response to anti-VEGF therapy in nAMD and PCV patients. The study found that metabolites such as LPC and diacylglycerophosphocholine impact the response to conbercept treatment, with LPC 18:0 identified as a potential biomarker to discriminate responders from non-responders. The findings suggest that metabolites may be useful for guiding treatment options in nAMD and PCV.
