Summary: The boron-Wittig reaction involves the condensation of easy manageable lithium alpha-bis(boryl)carbanions with carbonyl derivatives to form metalloid-substituted alkenes, which are important building blocks for the synthesis of all-carbon substituted olefins. This reaction is stereoselective and can be applied to a variety of carbonyl derivatives, with a focus on controlling the stereochemical outcome. Its synthetic potential is demonstrated through applications to target compounds via subsequent C-C bond forming processes.

Summary: The nucleophilic reactivity of alpha,alpha-difluorinated gem-diols has been utilized to selectively synthesize biologically relevant 1,4-dihydropyridines and 3,4-dihydro-2-pyridones adorned with the valuable gem-difluoromethylene motif. The method is scalable, high yielding, and compatible with a wide range of substrates and functional groups. Additionally, the synthesis of difluorinated oxa-azabicyclo [3.3.1] nonane frameworks has been demonstrated through product diversification.

Summary: Here, we report an unprecedented protocol using ruthenium-catalyzed annulation for the synthesis of 6H-chromeno[4 ',3 ':4,5]imidazo[1,2-a]pyridin-6-one, and a new method for intramolecular chelation-assisted C-H activation to produce functionalized 2-(3-formylimidazo[1,2-a]pyridin-2-yl)phenyl acetate. Furthermore, a one-pot approach using ruthenium catalysis and formic acid has been developed for the gram-scale synthesis of bis(2-phenylimidazo[1,2-a]pyridin-3yl)methane (BIP) and the late-stage functionalization of zolimidine, a marketed drug, with good yield.

Summary: The interaction between [VO(OiPr)(3)] and 6-bis(o-hydroxyaryl)pyridine, 2,6-{HOC(Ph)(2)CH2}(2)(NC5H3), LH2, resulted in the formation of [VO(OiPr)L] (1) with high yield. The reaction between LNa2, generated in-situ from LH2 and NaH, and [VCl3(THF)(3)] led to the isolation of [VL2] (2) with cis-pyridyl nitrogen atoms. In the case of [VCl2(TMEDA)(2)], a regioisomer 3.2THF with trans-pyridyl nitrogen atoms was obtained.

Summary: The dinuclear complex [Rh(eta-C1)(eta(2)-coe)(IPr)](2) serves as an efficient catalyst for the O-selective Markovnikov-type addition of 2-pyridones to terminal alkynes. DFT calculations suggest a hydride-free pathway involving intramolecular oxidative protonation of a pi-alkyne by a kappa N-1-hydroxypyridine ligand. The release of the alkenyl ether is considered the rate-determining step in the reaction.

Summary: Two coordination polymers were obtained through a PCET-assisted process using the hydroxy-pyrazolyl moiety of the ligand and the iron(II) ion as sources of proton and electron. Under mild conditions, the first coordination polymer of 2,6-bis(pyrazol-3-yl)pyridines was synthesized. Under harsh solvothermal conditions, a hydrogen atom transfer resulted in the transformation of hydroxyl groups, producing the third coordination polymer of 2,6-bis(pyrazol-3-yl)pyridines. This PCET-assisted approach can be used to produce coordination polymers and metal-organic frameworks with the SCO-active core N-3(L)MN3(L).

Summary: This study presents a novel iron-catalyzed reaction that efficiently converts unactivated gem-difluoroalkenes, gem-dichloroalkenes, and gem-dibromoalkenes into 1,2-bis(boryl)-alkanes with high selectivity and broad substrate applicability. Preliminary mechanistic studies suggest that double beta-F elimination plays a role in the catalytic cycle, with 1,1-diborylated alkenes potentially serving as intermediates in this iron-catalyzed 1,2-diborylation reaction.

Summary: Two new hexacoordinated Co(II)-based single-ion magnets were synthesized and characterized. The complexes exhibited metal-centered coordination with nitrate anions and a 2,6-bis(1H-benzimidazole-2-yl)pyridine ligand with n-octyl or n-dodecyl chains. The presence of long aliphatic chains allowed for their solubility in low polarity and volatile solvents, enabling the preparation of microstructural layers and patterns on relevant substrates using wet lithographic techniques. The complexes displayed positive axial D parameters and showed field-induced slow relaxation of magnetization.

Summary: Chiral transition metal complexes with privileged ligands are efficient catalysts for various asymmetric organic transformations. Transition metal complexes of C1-symmetric pyrrolidine-based ligands have been widely used in asymmetric organic reactions. However, a comprehensive review article on the transition metal complexes of chiral C1-symmetric pyrrolidine-based ligands derived from (L)-proline has not been published.
