The reaction of singlet oxygen with diazofluorene in the presence of metalloporphyrin caused oxidation of hydrocarbons as well as Sulfide and anisol in substantial yields. The active oxidizing species is probably a high valency metal oxo species(M=O(porph)Cl) generated by an oxygen transfer from carbonyl oxide intermediate to M(porph)Cl. (C) 2009 Elsevier Ltd.
