Summary: A new synthetic method for the formation of thiazolo[4,5-b]indol-2-amines from alpha-diazoimidamides and mono-substituted thioureas was demonstrated. The reaction was catalyzed by boron trifluoride etherate and camphorsulfonic acid under mild conditions. This methodology is suitable for various alpha-diazoimidamides and mono-substituted thioureas, and can be scaled up for further experiments and transformation.

Summary: In this work, molybdenum dioxide (MoO2) nanoparticles were synthesized via solid-state reaction method at different reaction temperatures. The utilization of waste polythene as a reducing agent for the synthesis of MoO2 nanostructure was explored. The synthesized MoO2 nanoparticles exhibited excellent electrochemical performance, attributed to the presence of high graphitic carbon content. This work provides a cost-efficient and high-yield synthesis route for highly efficient electrocatalysts.

Summary: A one-pot method was proposed in this work to prepare polydopamine-coated mesoporous silica-supported nano-metal oxide composites with good antibacterial properties. The composites showed a regular spherical shape with nano-metal oxides formed in the pores of mesoporous silica. Among them, MSN-C/ZnO and MSN-C/CuZnO exhibited better antibacterial performance and lower minimal inhibitory concentration. Therefore, these composites have potential applications as effective antibacterial products in the medical field.

Summary: In this study, we optimized a method for the one-pot synthesis of benzimidazole using a bimetallic catalyst supported by meso-cellular foam (MCF). The catalyst exhibited bifunctionality, allowing for the hydrogenation of o-nitroaniline to o-phenylenediamine (OPDA) and the cyclization of OPDA into benzimidazole. The use of a solvent mixture provided an in situ source of hydrogen and carbon dioxide, which played a significant role in the reaction. The synthesized catalyst was characterized and the reaction mechanism and kinetics were established.

Summary: A green route for one-pot synthesis of acetals by tandem hydroformylation-acetalization of olefins using supported Rh-based catalysts was developed. Experimental results showed that under suitable Rh loading, temperature, and time conditions, the catalyst could selectively form acetals. Additionally, this tandem catalysis enhanced the selectivity to valuable linear products.

Summary: The total synthesis of both cis and trans diastereomers of prenylated davanoids, such as davanone, nordavanone, and davana acid ethyl ester, was accomplished using an enantioselective strategy. By employing a Crimmins' non-Evans syn aldol reaction and a Lewis acid-mediated cycloetherification reaction, the tetrahydrofuran core of these molecules was established. Furthermore, a modification of the Crimmins' non-Evans protocol allowed for the conversion of the aldol adduct to the core tetrahydrofuran ring, facilitating a one-pot tandem aldol-cycloetherification strategy to achieve the enantioselective synthesis of davana acid ethyl esters and 2-epi-davanone/nordavanone in just three steps.

Summary: The one-pot tandem synthesis of imines from alcohols and amines using the Au/MIL-101 catalyst has been demonstrated as an efficient, economical, and environmentally friendly approach. The catalyst showed high activity and selectivity, with the highest reported TOF values among MOF-supported Au catalysts, attributed to the synergistic effect between Au nanoparticles and Lewis acid sites in MIL-101. Mechanistic studies revealed that the Au NPs effectively activated the oxidation step while the Lewis acid sites catalyzed the condensation step, leading to excellent catalytic performance.

Summary: In this study, a low-metal iron-supported catalyst (Fe20/NC-Mg) was reported for the efficient synthesis of quinoxaline compounds, using water as a solvent and without additional bases. The synergistic effect of FeNx site and Mg (OH)2 nanorods in the catalyst played a key role in achieving high yields (82-91%) in 16 examples. The gram-level synthesis and reusability of the catalysts after four cycles demonstrated its industrial application potential.
