Summary: This study examines the impact of information and communication technology (ICT) diffusion on public health outcome and uncovers the mechanisms through which this influence operates. Using China's provincial panel data and the China Family Panel Studies, the study finds that ICT diffusion significantly reduces population mortality in China. Mechanism analysis shows that ICT diffusion improves health outcome by increasing public healthcare expenditure at the macro level and cultivating individual health literacy at the micro level.
