The positive relationships between urban green space and health have been well documented. Little is known, however, about the role of residents' emotional attachment to local green spaces in these relationships, and how attachment to green spaces and health may be promoted by the availability of accessible and usable green spaces. The present research aimed to examine the links between self-reported health, attachment to green space, and the availability of accessible and usable green spaces. Data were collected via paper-mailed surveys in two neighborhoods (n = 223) of a medium-sized Dutch city in the Netherlands. These neighborhoods differ in the perceived and objectively measured accessibility and usability of green spaces, but are matched in the physically available amount of urban green space, as well as in demographic and socio-economic status, and housing conditions. Four dimensions of green space attachment were identified through confirmatory factor analysis: place dependence, affective attachment, place identity and social bonding. The results show greater attachment to local green space and better self-reported mental health in the neighborhood with higher availability of accessible and usable green spaces. The two neighborhoods did not differ, however, in physical and general health. Structural Equation Modelling confirmed the neighborhood differences in green space attachment and mental health, and also revealed a positive path from green space attachment to mental health. These findings convey the message that we should make green places, instead of green spaces.

Intratumoral Pi deprivation benefits chemoembolization therapy via increased accumulation of intracellular doxorubicin

Yang-Feng Lv, Zhi-Qiang Deng, Qiu-Chen Bi, Jian-Jun Tang, Hong Chen, Chuan-Sheng Xie, Qing-Rong Liang, Yu-Hua Xu, Rong-Guang Luo, Qun Tang

Summary: This study proposes a new method for treating hepatocellular carcinoma (HCC) using transarterial chemoembolization (TACE), called DOX-TASE. By modulating the chemo-environment with sevelamer, a polymeric phosphate binder, intratumoral inorganic phosphate (Pi) starvation is induced, resulting in increased accumulation and retention of the chemotherapy drug doxorubicin (DOX) in the tumor. This new approach induces more severe tumor necrosis compared to conventional TACE and drug-eluting bead TACE.

Sevelamer arsenite nanoparticle as a Pi-responsive drug carrier and embolic agent for chemoembolization

Qiu-Chen Bi, Jian-Jun Tang, Jun Zhao, Yang-Feng Lv, Zhi-Qiang Deng, Hong Chen, Yu-Hua Xu, Chuan-Sheng Xie, Qing-Rong Liang, Rong-Guang Luo, Qun Tang

Summary: Sevelamer arsenite nanoparticle is a promising drug delivery system for the treatment of solid tumors. Its unique Pi-responsive properties enable enhanced tumor necrosis compared to arsenic trioxide, and in-vitro tests have shown that it can enhance the anticancer effect of arsenic trioxide.

Summary: This paper proposes a marker-less monocular vision point positioning method for vision-assisted manual operation in industrial environments. The method accurately locates the target point of operation using constraint minimization even in the absence of visual features. Experimental results demonstrate its superior accuracy and robustness compared to traditional methods.

A multi-year dormancy strategy in a cabbage beetle population in southeastern China

Jian-Jun Tang, Xing-Ping Liu, Hai-Min He, Li-Li Huang, Shao-Hui Wu, Fang-Sen Xue

Summary: The life cycle of the cabbage beetle in southeastern China is complex due to multiple options for adult development. This study provides detailed information on the multi-year emergence patterns of diapausing individuals and explores the influence of temperature and photoperiod on diapause duration. The findings suggest that the cabbage beetle adopts a multi-year dormancy strategy to survive local environmental conditions and unpredictable risks.

Prognostic Observational Analysis of BMI, Leptin, and Adiponectin in Children With Acute Lymphocytic Leukemia Undergoing Remission-Induction Chemotherapy

Jing Sun, Ru Zhang, Jianjun Tang, Xuedong Wu, Lu Zhu, Haiying Huang, Huimin Chen, Minhua Xiao, Hongfeng Luo, Haiqing Zheng, Jiaqi Chen

Summary: This study investigated the relationship between obesity and short-term outcomes in children with acute lymphoblastic leukemia (ALL). The results showed that obesity affects the outcome of ALL patients, with higher BMI being associated with increased minimal residual disease (MRD). In addition, higher BMI was also associated with increased leptin levels at diagnosis.

Hyb4mC: a hybrid DNA2vec-based model for DNA N4-methylcytosine sites prediction

Ying Liang, Yanan Wu, Zequn Zhang, Niannian Liu, Jun Peng, Jianjun Tang

Summary: The study proposes a flexible deep learning-based framework called Hyb4mC for predicting 4mC sites. It adopts the DNA2vec method for sequence embedding and uses two different subnets for further analysis. The experimental results show that Hyb4mC can significantly enhance the performance of predicting 4mC sites.

Deep Compressive Sensing on ECG Signals with Modified Inception Block and LSTM

Jing Hua, Jue Rao, Yingqiong Peng, Jizhong Liu, Jianjun Tang

Summary: This paper proposes a deep compressive-sensing scheme for ECG signals based on a modified Inception block and LSTM. Experimental results on the MIT-BIH Arrhythmia Database and Non-Invasive Fetal ECG Arrhythmia Database demonstrate that the proposed scheme significantly improves the reconstruction performance and has good recovering quality in noisy data.

Case report: A de novo Non-sense SOX9 mutation (p.Q417*) located in transactivation domain is Responsible for Campomelic Dysplasia

Xingxing Qiao, Liping Wu, Jianjun Tang, Rong Xiang, Liangliang Fan, Hao Huang, Yaqin Chen

Summary: Campomelic dysplasia (CD) is an autosomal dominant skeletal dysplasia syndrome characterized by shortness and bowing of lower extremities, often accompanied by XY sex reversal. SOX9 variants and rearrangement involving chromosome 17 are the causes of CD. However, the pathogenesis of SOX9 haploinsufficiency is still insufficiently understood. This study identified a novel SOX9 variant (p.Q417*) in a Chinese family with CD, supporting the role of reduced transactivation of SOX9 in the pathogenicity of CD.

Therapeutic Potential of Extracellular Vesicles from Different Stem Cells in Chronic Wound Healing

Haoxi Ni, Jianbo Xi, Jianjun Tang, Yongmin Yan, Ying Chu, Jing Zhou

Summary: Wound healing in chronic wounds is a complex problem. Traditional methods have poor treatment results and cause psychological stress to patients and economic burden to society. Stem cell-derived extracellular vesicles (SC-EVs) have shown potential in accelerating chronic wound repair due to their ability to inhibit inflammation, induce angiogenesis, promote re-epithelization, and reduce scar formation. This study summarizes the pathological factors hindering wound healing, discusses the mechanisms of how SC-EVs accelerate chronic wound repair, compares the advantages and disadvantages of different SC-EVs for chronic wound treatment, and provides new insights for future SC-EVs research in chronic wound treatment.
